WH EXpo .. the site is still up. But, no returned phone calls, emails, or anything.

Does anybody know if it is on for sure or not?

there is no 2002 whexpo, last i heard there is a 2003 one, but that was right before they stopped publishing their mag, so who knows.

I have never heard of it but my guess would be WHEXPO = Web hosting expo. It's probably the web hosting industries equivalent to Comdex!! ;) Correct me if I am wrong.

Robert, I assume this is the same one you were talking about? Looks like it's on for August. :D

I really don't think it's on. Immediately after the 2001 Expo the new dates for 2002 were added but the old speaker list and exhibitors were still being displayed. Infotonic have ceased to publish WHM and Ispcheck has been converted to an automated PPC site. What this all says to me is that the head count there has been reduced to none and along with no PR at all for WHExpo 2002, it doens't look like it's on.

They have never been good at updating their websites so read nothing into what you can see at whexpo.com.

One of my DJ's confirmed from a guy from infotonic that it HAS BEEN CANCELLED. They are looking into an early 2003 resched..

since this does not look like it going to come off - what is the best alternative conference everyone will be attending?

I know linux world is coming in January -in SF - but any others people are actually attending?

Due to the economic decline and the murky futures of so many web hosting and hosting-related companies, the second coming of the Web Hosting Expo has been extremely difficult to plan. Layoffs are adding up, some hosts are calling it quits, and of those remaining, trade show budgets are often frozen and unpredictable.
Originally, we had planned WH Expo 2002, to be held in August at the Washington Convention Center. Last winter, we ran a series of ads in Web Hosting Magazine announcing we had moved the show back to spring 2003, in hopes of an economic improvement that would afford us a minimally favorable business climate required to host the show.

With no improvement is sight, we've decided to postpone WH Expo until the time is right. Unfortunately, those factors are out of our direct control, but eventually, inevitably, the stars and the plants will once again align. And trust us, geeks, we'll all know when that time comes.

In the meantime, we'll soon be adding the ability to keep up with WH Expo news through your registration, so check back soon and update your user information. We'll let you know when anything changes. To those who were planning on attending this summer's show, we thank you. We're sure we'll see you soon.

WebmasterWorld has been doing it for a while -- PubConference in London, BarConference in the US. The idea being that even at "regular" conferences with plenary sessions and speakers and such, the real value is in the networking that happens over drinks afterwards -- so why not just skip the formalities and get right to the good part?

I will be at a web conference in vegas 1/6-8 2003.

I dont think it ever happened and they claim to be back but I think they are dead.
