View Full Version : Design Us a Website and Win Free Hosting for a Year
D8Mike 04-28-2002, 01:59 PM We did this competition last year and it turned out to be very popular with lots of designs submitted. Well we are running it again. It's time for a redesign after nearly 8 months of the same look.
Here is what you get if you win :
100 Megabyte diskspace
10gb data transfer
Domain or subdomain hosting
IP Address
2 subdomains
1 MySQL database
all our other features we cram into our packages.
1 Year Free Hosting
What do we want?
We want our site to stand out from the crowd. We want it to be eye catching. The rest is down to you. The design must also be compatiable with the forums. We want to work the forums into the new design (that means making all buttons fit the style of the site and the template must match the main site)
Closing date is May 5th, So get to work

divinetruth 04-28-2002, 02:23 PM hey it sounds fun, I'm in. just a few questions.
1. Do you want the site to be made for 800 x 600 resolutions?
2. Can I bargain for something other than webhosting if I win?
3. what if I dont make it by may 5th?
I'm guessing you would like the blue theme still, so I'll get crackin on it!
D8Mike 04-28-2002, 02:41 PM Yes 800x600 is Good! The offer is for 1 years hosting :) and You can use any color scheme you deem fit that will Catch our Eye! Depending on how many and what caliber of entrys recieved by May 5th but we are shooting for that date! :)
divinetruth 04-28-2002, 02:44 PM alright, do you want absolutely EVERYTHING to be done?
like slicing, html, etc ? or just one giant .gif?
D8Mike 04-28-2002, 02:47 PM Everything!
Saipix 04-28-2002, 03:13 PM Does the winning party get the account for 1 year or for life?

divinetruth 04-28-2002, 04:30 PM ok so, just one last thing.
you want the WHOLE site to be redone ?
so far, i'm done the main page, and it looks good, but I'm not sure if you want the entire site to be redone. If you do, than I dont kno if I can continue since it would take forever to remake the tables, forms, etc.
so how shall it be done?
Acroplex 04-28-2002, 05:07 PM So for less than $80 at comparable web hosting pricing, you get full development of a web site. Nice.
Maybe I should outsource some of my projects and have others do my job really cheap.
D8Mike 04-28-2002, 05:32 PM Yes we are wanting the complete site done! We think we have a very professional looking site now that was done in a 7 day contest as well by a 15 year old that was just wanting his own website.
If you would like a nice package hosted with a reputable company and would like to enter the contest please do, we welcome all entrys.
If you do not feel free to pass the opportunity up! :)
I will add an average site will not replace the current site. We are looking for a very very unique site done to catch the eye of all that visit us.
Yes we are wanting a Bargain! The whole purpose of running a contest!
And the winner is for 1 Year! I believe Ryan has corrected the link you are referring too.
divinetruth 04-28-2002, 05:52 PM hmm, damn then. sorry, I dont think i'd be able to complete the whole website.
D8Mike 04-28-2002, 06:13 PM Submit a Template and If chosen then we will work on the site and design finished.
dreamdezign 04-28-2002, 06:37 PM *************i can see some smart guys around the net*****************
lets do like this
Domain name = 8$ per year
hosting = 60 to 70$ per year with alot of options
total = 68 or 75$ average
so for 75$ = you want full complete ,killer design eye catching hosting website????????????????????????
and also you are not sure about the webdesigner who u gonna choose as a winner and provide him this 70$ or 60$ hosting package?....lol...
ok now listen mine
complete eye catching website the one u r talking about cost like 1200$ or 1500$ same like www. mediatemple.com with shopping cart, flash, cool graphics etc
but just for html website it will cost u like 5 to 6 hundred $
if you do your work from some professional or some dot com company
---------------------------
so after reading these all shall we think you are fool or we?
D8Mike 04-28-2002, 07:16 PM Does posting on this forum in the Offers and Requests of the Advertiseing forum always get such Welcome from "SUCH PROFESSIONALS"?
We are sorry if we have stepped on your Highdollar toes this is a mere contest to see if someone would care to submit their design in return for 1 years hosting. Nobody is forceing anybody to submit anything.
But the day I can afford that $1500 Dollar site I assure you it will not be from a site as curteous and professional as yours! sorry!
One more time please disregard this contest and do not feel obligated to submit anything regarding this project if you do not think you would care to partake in this Project. :)
dreamdezign 04-29-2002, 11:29 AM i am sorry if my reply was rude....but thats just my reply to ur contest and i think every one is free to express hes thoughts..

D8Mike 05-14-2002, 09:19 PM We want to thank all the people who submitted some very very nice professional designs and templates. We have decided to go with the design submitted by Mark at Jmnetics.com. I hope everybody finds it as nice, thorough and easy to navigate with as we do. Thanks again for all the participation.
