Hi all,

I had a cgi script running on a server smoothly before, but suddenly I got "internal server error". Only my friend and I have the root access and only I have the ftp info for that account.

After finding the problem, I gave the ftp account to my friend. After he checked it, he told me that somebody have modified something on the server and there were some perl module missing.

It's so weird since noboby with the access had touched the files. Would someone tell me what might be the causes of this sudden error from nowhere?

By the way, we use plesk. It worked very well for more than 2 months not. But could this be a cause?

Thanks.

hehe, maybe you should ask in the technical & security section

or

Hosting Software and Control Panels

I think they might be able to help you better.
good luck

ebird, are you sure noone changed anything on the server? Your friend or your webhost? Maybe you upgraded some software?

only 2 have the access and none of us did anything on the server.

The error just happaned suddenly. All the files are still there, the last modification date was right, and permission was set correctly.

The tech person said he would check the log to see who logged in the server.

It's just so weird.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I experienced this very same problem a few weeks ago and the culprit was the suexec_log getting too big (over 2 GB). Once it's cleared up, the script started to work again like a charm!

If you can run the script from SSH, then there should be no problem.
