First for something I should have said eons ago:

Rackshack: Thanks for providing such good value and quality servers to the 'masses'. Nothing in the UK comes anywhere close to your offerings.

Noticed that you are now advertising in "Internet.works" magazine in the UK. Any plans for UK NOC?

=====

Right: Got the following crud from the gob****es at *****, wanting me to move to *****. Note the lies, damn lies.

This was spammed to domain registration role account, too.

Maybe it would be because they dont want the general public walking around their customers servers, some with important data on them. I would way rather go with rackshacks secure facility, than their unsecured one with general public walking around it, how bout you?

Apparently no one from RS will notice the minimum of at least 350 GIG's less per month of bandwidth they'll loose with *****, for the same price they could have had (that much more) with RS, and switch right away. Gee, I know I would. Especially with *****s outstanding reputation. Heck, with *****s' deal, I suppose you could *almost* run a tiny web host service, I say go for it -- you can't ever make too many mistakes in life, right?

RUN for that deal! Don't walk! Don't crawl! Don't reply with threatening, abusive or rude emails! I say DO IT. You can't possibly lose! The fact that they were kind enough to take the time to SEEK YOU OUT and send you such a great unsolicitied email offer, well, you'd just have to be a fool to not take them up on this. Why, I bet even if Christine Patterson really existed, that you couldn't get a better deal from another sales re.serpent.tative.

Great security... 24/7 armed guards, secured access with key swipe entry, biometric thumb print verifiers and a double locking man-traps... and doors which are "wide open" to anyone who happens to wander by. :D

I did a custom quote on a server exactly like the RS P3 1ghz. This was their price:

Your Custom Quote Tracking Number (this quote is good for 72 hours): 492699526
Your setup cost: $360
Your 1 month price: $1312.00
Your prepaid 3 month price: $3936.00
Your prepaid 12 month price: $14169.60

Hey at least I get to save $1672 with their RS-only special!

Dang, them guys need to get their ducks in line...I noticed you are currently hosting at Rackshack. You are paying 2-3x (BULL****) what ... and If we can't beat your current monthly expenditure with RackSpace, we will pay you just for letting us take a shot at it.Okay, who do they mean? Rackshack or Rackspace?

Silly *****, how'd they manage to get so big?

That email only makes sense if they're referring to RackSPACE rather then RackSHACK.

Even then, it's still sneaky and underhanded.

One final note, call Rackshack ask them for a tour of their data centers, they will refuse. I wonder why?

Just when you can't stand them anymore, they post things like this. This reminds me of the "Move to a no hurricane zone" they ran in FL, and the "Running out of power" ads here in CA. They forgot to mention, they have a DC in CA. Idiots.

I can honestly say this with first hand knowledge, there owner is the one who puts all this stuff out personally. Read every press release, he is mentioned at least once. Things are a dictatorship overthere. Dishonesty, and bad business practices will always catch up to you.

Well, I don't find it sneaky. It is a bid on someone who is with a competitor, not much else, although some of it doesn't rub me well. Sneaky would be some of the other emails posted here that were sent by hosts telling them that their current provider "is going out of business due to <excuse>" and that they should sign up with <insert bastard host here> in order to continue service. I remember one involving addr.com I think, sent by Davey (if I recall correctly).

I dislike both ***** and spam as much as the next person, but where's the defamation or illegal content in that message? Essentially it says nothing more than "we're cheaper than you're current host and offer lots of great features."

Don't misunderstand, I wouldn't patronize them. But there's no basis for a defamation suit in that message.

Depends how good your lawyers are. "You are paying 2-3x what you should be paying for the dedicated server your web site is running on" could be argued as defamatory.

Planning on firing up a bulkmailer for some work Jay? :D

His post mentioned using an e-mail address from his domain registration. As quite a few people use an individual address for that I'm pretty sure it'll be a case of ***** running a script to bleed the e-mail addresses of anything attached to Rachshack's DC. I'm sure that means half of the people working as RS got the same e-mail too.

For all the complaints and poor reviews, you have to admire *****'s advertising team. They're putting in 110% :)

Actually i dont see it as a big problem that you can take someone for a tour of the DC.

Im not on anyone side at all on this issue and i hate companies that say come with us we are better etc.

But if one of my customers was going to spend a good amount of money for a dedicated server i would love to show him around the DC.

Unless rackshack has something to hide or there data centre is made in a certiain way to fit max amount of servers per square meter then i would guess the following :

All servers are housed in a locked cabinet/ cage and are 1.5 meter distance from the server rack all around! And of course the typical secuirty checks would have to be made before they enter the DC full stop!

People would be under 24 hour eye of at least two cameras at a time and its not as if they would trip over anything and unplug a power switch everything should be clear and clean.

Just my opinion on Data Centre tours even though alittle off topic.
Thanks,

I've toured their L.A. data center. It's absolutely nothing like what they're describing in that e-mail... amazing they can get away with those sort of claims. And yes, the door was pretty much wide open when I got there.

Well I understand that Denis Dabystruv toured the Houston facility some months back. He was deeply impressed. I believe there was a thread about it either here or at RS forums.

The email ***** sent was just spam. Though the contents are outrageous, but they cannot be interpreted as illegal. Much like AT&T, MCI or Sprint grrrrr calling you on the phone every frigging time to switch your phone service to them.

If I so much as recieve an email like that, I'll personally write back with a letter asking ***** to make the letter part of my contract with them. ROTFL. Then boy would you have a nice fat lawsuit when they fail to follow through with their puffing.

... this lowlight only confirms what I have heard. They cannot fool people like they used to because people are getting more and more informed before they buy something. They are loosing business.

My sources tell me they are a few months from Chapter 11. Amen! I hope they all die... too bad that I am too far away to watch that crook Faulkner shoot himself as the people from the bank carry away his office furniture

An FYI and THANKS to our loyal customers.

There are many legal theories and I won't discuss them all here other than to say that ***** and Propagation Networks have been, as of this afternoon (5/3), ordered by a Houston District Court Judge to appear in a Houston District Court and answer and show cause why they should not be enjoined from spamming Rackshack customers with false and misleading statements.

They have been ordered to appear at 1:30 PM, Friday, May 10, 2002.

I'll keep you guys up to date as the process transpires.
