Hi,
I just got a website and haven't even started building it yet.I have a question. When I go to my site it says this

WELCOME TO YOUR FUTURE WEBSITE
In order to view your website, please remove this file "index.html" and replace it with your own index.html file.

Can anyone please tell me how to do this? And is there a book that will help you learn the computer lingo or whatever it's called?I can't afford to have someone build it for me but I just need to know how to do this part.
Thanks,
Beverly

Beverly,

You'll basically need to perform this via FTP or any file manager your host provides you with.
A good FTP application you can use is: filezilla

It's available for download at: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net
You'll need to get the FTP details off of your current host.

Once inside the FTP you can then delete or replace the existing index.html

Does your host use any specific panel?
If so they most likely have a graphical version of a file manager that is available for you to upload/delete/create files!

You can also use Internet Explorer (not most peoples choice) type in ftp://yourdomain.com or what ever it is, then on the top tool bar you can click file, login as, and type in your username and password for your sites ftp. Then you can view each file that is there and delete them manually. SOme people that do not know much about ftp find using IE more comfortagble because they can see it and read it better. I hope this helps.
