Do you guys think it's important for a web host to offer free billing software (such as ClientExec) with their reseller hosting services? Is it something clients look for in a host?

IH-Rameen 12-23-2005, 03:41 PM Well, speaking from experience, I can say it does help. We had a high demand for a billing software and resellers are usually on a tight budget. Helping them out and offering a free yet professional billing solution went down very well. BlikWerk 12-23-2005, 04:03 PM Well, speaking from experience, I can say it does help. I totally agree with this. We've seen a huge jump in reseller signups since offering it with our reseller plans a few months ago. It's definately a nice addition to your services if you can include a professional billing solution for your resellers. demowolf 12-23-2005, 04:51 PM I think this is a perfect example of the way the reseller hosting industry is headed. The more "free stuff" you provide your resellers..... stuff that helps them get their reseller hosting business off the ground..... the better. I think the days of just offering storage space and bandwidth and the ability to create hosting accounts are disappearing. I remember about 4 years ago when I started a small hosting company..... I offered customers the ability to "add more domains" to their hosting account for $1.00/month each (and additional storage space for $1.00/month for 5mb!!). The idea was great and resulted in some great additional sales..... but today, "addon domains" are usually free, and in fact expected..... and there's more storage space available (with all these unlimited storage providers.... I'd love to know where they're getting these "unlimited storage hard drives") than you can shake a stick at! Tomorrow, resellers will probably have to design the complete hosting website with billing, support and shopping cart integrated. Maybe even answer their support tickets. Wait a minute..... I have an idea...... <running to my enom account to register a new domain> :) hostingvince 12-23-2005, 06:28 PM Tomorrow, resellers will probably have to design the complete hosting website with billing, support and shopping cart integrated. Again, nothing special ldcdc 12-23-2005, 08:38 PM Any H-Sphere reseller provider provides a free billing solution,It depends on what you understand by that. Processing payments still costs something and can be a bother. :) There does seem to be a trend that leads to the reseller becoming more a salesman than a host -- which is not necessarily a bad thing. :) hostingvince 12-23-2005, 08:43 PM Not really - lots of those as well... Again, nothing special I know. I was answering reply from twobit to inform his idea has been around for a while, and just gave one example. Of course you could be just answering so as to get noticed because you offer this too - at a price. Either way, have a great festive season. - Vince niyogi 12-24-2005, 03:58 AM We've come across many customers that are actively using their reseller account without billing software *or* with another preferred billing software. So I'd recommend keeping it as an option. Roj cunning 12-24-2005, 10:37 AM Webbist, I would recommend keeping it as an option for your reseller clients so that they can understand that you have something more to offer them and it's just taken as an added vantage IMHO.
