Hello,

I just got a new compaq server from RS. I setup ns4.hostingbetter.com and ns5.hostingbetter.com as nameservers for that server.

I already had ns1.hostingbetter.com, ns2.hostingbetter.com and ns3.hostingbetter.com running as nameservers on the cobalt RaQ.

Now, after I had successfully setup the nameservers on the new compaq, and changed the nameservers for my domain name www.hostingbetter.com to:

ns1.hostingbetter.com
ns2.hostingbetter.com
ns3.hostingbetter.com
ns4.hostingbetter.com
ns5.hostingbetter.com

My domain name is sometimes accessible and sometimes not. I am loosing clients, because they get mails returned sent to support address.

Can any help me with this problem? I have checked all the DNS records on the cobalt raq and they are all fine.

BTW, the main domain for the new compaq is ensim.hostingbetter.com

Please help. Any help is appreciated! :(

TIA.

ns4.hostingbetter.com is giving a timeout:
http://www.hexillion.com/utilities/NsLookup.vbs.asp
Try running a few test using that - I had a problem with something kind of similar a few weeks ago...

when ns1.hostingbetter.com is queried it gives the following A record for the doamin which points at some tera-byte server.
hostingbetter.com IN A 216.234.186.28

when ns4.hostingbetter.com is queried it gives the following
DNS query for hostingbetter.com failed: Timed out

when ns5.hostingbetter.com is queried it gives the following
ns5.hostingbetter.com [64.246.20.185] returned an authoritative response
but doesnt lists any A record for the domain.

double check your DNs setup on the RS compaq

Hello SixthSense,

You cleared the fog. :)

Anyway, what should I do? Should I remove the

ns4.hostingbetter.com
ns5.hostingbetter.com

from the hostingbetter.com namesevers? Also, I have added ns4.hostingbetter.com and ns5.hostingbetter.com in the SOA Record for www.hostingbetter.com which is hosted at tera-byte RaQ Server. Should I remove them?

A step by step guide would be appreciated.

Please reply soon if possible!

Thanks for the link Tom. SixthSense, from where should I remove the ns4.hostingbetter.com and ns5.hostingbetter.com entries from?

i). Domain Nameservers?
ii). SOA Record on Cobalt RaQ?

Also, removing the records from the domain nameservers, won't it make unable for me to access http://ensim.hostingbetter.com which basically is the main domain for the Compaq Server?

Please reply soon if possible!

the compaq will be accessible as long as the ns1/ns2.betterhosting.com has all the necessary A records that points the ensim.betterhosting.com record to the compaq server ip :)

ya take the entries out of both the things you mentioned

What DNS entries should I enter in the DNS Record of the Cobalt RaQ for the new compaq server?

Hello SixthSense,

It seems the domain www.hostingbetter.com is down for me. Is it accessible for you?

I removed the ns4 & ns5 entries and I guess this is what causing it to be down.

A quick reply is high appreciated!
