View Full Version : Ginsu Knife Offers with WebHosting Packages
etLux 01-13-2001, 03:13 AM I have noted a number of webhosting posts in the Advertising / Offers category where webhosting firms are considering offering FREE GINSU KNIVES with their webhosting packages.
As this is apparently a new trend sweeping the industry, I would be interested in hearing the sense of the forum on this revolutionary new marketing technique.
dektong 01-13-2001, 03:42 AM Can you give the link to any of these offer? I want to see the Ginsu Knives before considering signing up with the plan :)
cheers,
etLux 01-13-2001, 03:46 AM I believe this was one of them...
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=4662
And that's NOT ALL!
I understand they will also soon be teaming up with http://www.flatulence-filter.com/ for an even better offer.
dektong 01-13-2001, 03:53 AM I still can't find the offer for the Ginsu Knives. It might be just me or what?
About the flatulence filter...he..10x :)
cheers,

Actually, I believe that those hosts who adopt the marketing strategy of offering free Ginsu knives will do very well with it. This could be the key that makes someone the next Bill Gates. The potential for wealth is boundless!
projo 01-13-2001, 04:38 PM etLux is now searching the net for free Ginsu knives. This is just the latest of a series of cries for intervention from his friends. "Ginsu knive searching" is not an unknown symptom. It is one of several brought on by "Customer Support Syndrome."
I step forward at this time because as one of his customers I am afraid I helped create this crisis. The only cure is to force him to program in Cobol for 6 months which leaves most of his brain free to recuperate.
I feel so guilty. I am sorry etLux.

Editorial note: So I left the n out of unknown and the p out of symptom. So big deal. I must have needed a reminder. Changed VB to Cobol. I like VB too much to make fun of it.

LOL... you know, I field literally thousands of customer support e-mails each month; often on difficult, complex areas of coding, or working with newer coders who need quite a bit of hand-holding.
Here's the truth.
In fully 99.9% of the support mail I get (including Gary's), the people who write in are courteous, patient, decent, and good-natured.
The vast majority appreciate the help, and say so... and you know what? I greatly enjoy the opportunity to pass along some of what I've learned. All of my usual kidding aside: teaching others is truly one of the most gratifying, satisfying endeavors in which one may ever hope to be involved.
If this is an illness, then so be it; I will gratefully continue to suffer with it.

Unfortunately teaching manifests itself as an illness in different ways, et. And let me demonstrate.
Yesterday I was at yum-cha (Chinese lunch for the uninitiated) with my family at the local restaurant. At the next table was a boisterous gathering of 'tourists' from Hong Kong.
Within 5 mins my Mum said, "I bet you the head of the group is a teacher or university lecturer back in Hong Kong".
I took the bait. "Why?"
Mum : "Because not only is he extolling on the virtues of the Qing Dynasty, his voice is at about 120 decibels. And only history teachers in Hong Kong speak that loud."
The guy at that table was obviously enjoying boring his table to death, so I have little doubt Mum was right.
Which just goes to show you : if you slip a bit of fermented goat's milk into the teapot of the next table you can always loosen those pursestrings a bit..... :D
etLux 01-13-2001, 07:53 PM Fortunately, I am not fond of Chinese food.
Aren't you et? What a pity.
Which means I'll have to slip that goat milk somewhere else... :bawling:

kunal 01-14-2001, 01:21 AM etLux, you are, you are, hmmmmm....... I leave it to the rest :stickout
etLux 01-14-2001, 01:44 AM Why thank you, Kunal. Your generosity of spirit always impresses me.
kunal 01-14-2001, 01:55 AM Anytime my humble goat man friend ;)

TheComputerGuy 01-14-2001, 11:57 AM I heard Kunal is good with goats
etLux 01-14-2001, 12:13 PM This is absolutely true. Kunal is a master of goat-deception: a rare skill, as goats are not easily deceived. In addition, Kunal is also a Dancing Ginsu Knife Master.
We are all honored by his membership in this board.
kunal 01-14-2001, 12:19 PM Thank You!!
Thank You!! :)
etLux 01-14-2001, 12:24 PM May we now have a rousing round of sincere applause from all, please!
Perhaps, with this inducement, we might convince Master Kunal to give us a joint simultaneous demonstration of goat deception and Ginsu knife dancing.
This is worth seeing, now, so clap loudly!

You wish :D
CRego3D 01-14-2001, 12:49 PM Alright Kunal... I'll pay to see that
etLux 01-14-2001, 12:53 PM Kunal is very shy about his considerable talents in this area. You must first clap, very loudly, Carlos.
I think you also have to throw money.
kunal 01-14-2001, 02:24 PM How much money are we talking about here? :D
And yea.. clapping is a must.. also free beeeer!! :D
TheComputerGuy 01-14-2001, 02:38 PM in NC,USA up to the 1973 or 74, you could not own a sheep because people then were well having relations with them, and the sheep had very similar embryo to a humans female. so they were having halp and half, they would not live of course, but there is the gross thruth for ya,
P.S. Kunal was not apart of this, anyone else I can't vouch for.
etLux 01-14-2001, 02:45 PM Hey, any port in a storm.
But I can tell you with complete certainty that Kunal was not in North Carolina at that time.
Just look at the sheep. Not a one of 'em looks anything like him.
TheComputerGuy 01-14-2001, 10:20 PM but see that just means he could have lived in another state, such as California, Ore--Gon, or such
kunal 01-14-2001, 11:26 PM No No No No.. I wasnt there. I was in my village, farming.

I can vouch for Kunal, on this. All the sheep in his village look just like him.
Quod erat demonstrandum
echoweb 01-15-2001, 05:22 PM ahh... sarcasm. gotta love it!
