Hi,

I am searching for a commercial or free-available database that associates a location or telephone type to a telephone number. Anyone know where I can find this?

Here what I was thinking:
-When someone registers at my site, I can see if the phone location matches up to the other information they supplied. I would call land-line phones if they match and do more investigation ones that are cell phone or don't match location. Its very easy to fake IP adderss but a lot harder to fake "land-line" location.

So, is there a company or organization where I can get this information to install in-house? Phone companies? Also, does the database account for migration of numbers from land-lines to cell phones? It isn't a common phenomenon but I think it will happen more often.

Any tips or insight into this tool would help a great deal.

the list that i found on google includes area code, areas of states.

I don't know how useful that would be, especially with the rampant use of cellphones and VOIP. For example, my address is in the 317 area code, but my cell and VOIP numbers are 812 area code.

what about mobiles?
