I just got one of the new bummer6666/king-comp/pdcservers.net "standard" servers and was wondering if a few people could speed test it. When I first got it, I was able to pull between 150-200K at any time from my cable modem and a little faster from other servers of mine, now it seems to be in the 30-50K range during peak times and sometimes even down to 1 or 2KB/s.

I have been happy with the service so far and bummer answered tons of pre-sale questions for me, I just hope the speeds don't decrease as they add more servers. ;) Thanks

I would appreciate your locale and connection speed. Thanks again.

Same here, 30k-50k from a cable connection and from our servers on DS3s.

These tests are from Jacksonville, FL.

On cable from my house I get about 22K (we normally see average speeds of other sites @ 100+K) - Saint Louis, MO

10:28:55 (45.98 KB/s) - `15meg.test' saved [15000000/15000000]

from 10mbit rackshack server.

Best I've had on my few speed-tests is 1mb+/s

From my server at VDI:

12:41:48 (39.22 KB/s) - `15meg.test' saved[15000000/15000000]

very-very slow compared to the transfer rate I got from UUNet (uumap.tar.Z), usually around 2000KB/s

cheers,

It's too much difference between the speed of your server and the speed linked blow. About 6 times.

You are right about that....I talked to bummer and he put my server on a different switch and speeds seem to be much better now (100-200K now for me). Anyone mind trying to grab that file now and see if they have sped up for anyone else?

Although kingcomp sometimes gets a bad rap here on WHT, so far, my experience has been great. ;)

I still don't quite understand, so there are some switches that will get you lower download speed, and some others with higher download speeds? Does it mean that unless you complaint here publicly you will be put on the inferior (perharps capped) switch?

I don't know why all of you got such bad results but I got 111 KB/sec. It took 2 min 11 seconds. I'm on DSL in Los Angeles.

You make a very good point, and I don't get it either. ?Maybe I was on a bad port or something? I know that is not likely but who knows...it is working much better now.

Since this thread can go on and on, i'm closing it out since there are enough tests.
