Hi folks!

Hope I´m right here in this board. If not - please forgive me, I´m new here..

We are a webhosting-company located in spain, serving customers worldwide. Due to high demand from our customers asking for hosting in US we are looking for a company that can offer us dedicated servers without management, but with hardware-replacement and a raliable backup solution.

Our budget depends on what we get for, but we´ve not found a host that could give us what we need.

2 - 3 servers per month
Intel PIV 2,8 and up
1024 - 2048 MB Ram
160 GB HDD
Legal adult-hosting should be allowed

Backup should be run automatically once a day, restores should be possible by using a webfrontend.

We will use our own administration panel Tuxtools, so there is no need for cpanel etc.

Can you give me some hints what choices we have?

Thanks a lot!

Well you should perhaps look into building your own in a case.. http://plinkusa.net/ and looking for a colocation option.

What if you need physical access to run fsck, etc. or even a power reboot option. Some do offer "hands on" for free, but make sure its clear on your requirements/expectations if you do decide to go with a dedicated box.

Look here for "deals"..

then search for feedback for each of interest.

Then email them with your requirement questions, and you should be fine.

Good Luck in your search; and welcome to WHT.

2 - 3 servers per month

Thats a pretty serious requirement and obviously indicates consistant growth. However, a reliable and efficient backup solution for this sort of requirement is really almost a separate solution altogether. You should really look at renting or colocating your own NAS (certainly 1 TB to start and scalable to accomodate growth). Im sure alot of dedicated providers already have a large storage array configured, but, do you really want to be in a shared environment for something like this?

We use netvault as our backup/restore utility. Highly configurable and nice point and click functionality on restores from a web facing panel. You should definately take a look at this solution and ask any of your prospective hosts to configure something like this on your servers as you grow.

Hi!

First of all: thanks a lot for your answers!

We manage several racks full with servers that are located in germany here from spain, thanks to a hosting partner in germany. What we are looking for exactly is a company that can give us the same service level than we have it in germany.

This includes hardware replacement within 4 hours, 365/24/7 and a tape robot backup solution which is very stable. We do not believe that we will only host 5 or 10 servers in the US, so we are thinking in a bigger dimension than we could easily handle with NAS or something like that. Besides I´m not a fan of NAS for backups, I prefer the old tapes ;)

I already looked through the "Deals" board and found some interesting comapanies, so I´ll write some inquiries the next days.

Lunarpages seems to be interesting except from the managed services. Btut I´m pretty sure that we´ll find a way to restrain them to administrate our systems..

Once again, thank you very much. Seems that the webhosting community in the US is much kindlier than in germany.. :)
