On one of the host review sites, they list Alabanza as one of the top hosts. So, I went to the Alabanza site, and all I found was software; they didn't appear to offer hosting at all. So, what do people mean when they talk about an "Alabanza" host?

Alabanza provide (expensive) dedicated servers. The also offer shared hosting under another name, though it escapes me now.
There's no real stats or pricing on their site, as they prefer you to ring a rep.

They actually offer shared hosting throgh a few different names.
I think nomonthly.com was one of them. And another was called something like linuxwebhost or something similar.

Linuxwebhost and nomonthly are both run by the same outfit (Hosting Ventures), but I was unaware they were directly owned by Alabanza.
Here's a thread with a fairly accurate (IMO) assessment of linuxwebhost. It's got some mileage on it, so perhaps thingsa have changed: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14768&highlight=linuxwebhost
As for Alabanza, akashik was correct in stating that they are expensive. I received a current price list from them about a month ago, and nearly fell off my chair laughing.
At one time, they were the only game in town when it came to automation (their big selling point), but haven't seemed to notice that their competition has caught up in that regard, and completely surpassed them in price, equipment specs, and quality of service.

Standard SCSI Server:
PIII-550
512 MB RAM
18 GB Hard Drive
500 Control Panels
(There is a $1 per control panel per month charge after the first 35)
500 IP addresses
Price: $895 per month.
There is a minimum of a quarterly contract required along with a $500 setup fee. The setup fee will be only $250 if you do an annual contract.
They gave me this quote last year .... with the extra $1 per CP after the first 35, a servers with say 200 web sites would cost $1,060! That's $5 per web site

Unless Alabanza recently purchased LunuxWebHost, they are not an Alabanza Corp. THey are Alabanza Clients. Ast I remember, Lunuxwebhost and BeAHost wereowned by Roger's Internet Services. This probably changed as noted above, it has been a while since I used them or an Alabanza host for that matter.
