Just as the subject says, wondering if Plesk uses Apache or IIS.

I think Helm uses IIS which is a good thing in my opinion.

The only reason I want to run Windows servers is so that I can offer true Windows/IIS hosting to customers who expect just that.

I am concerned that if we decide to make use of Plesk, it will use Apache instead of IIS which would not be what most folks would expect when buying Windows hosting.

Thanks!

Plesk uses IIS for hosting customer sites.

If I remember correctly the Plesk is using Apache to control the IIS sites, meaning you are still offering IIS web hosting. Plesk just use Apache for its own function and is transparent to your clients.

Do you mean it uses Apache for the control panel portion of things but the sites are under IIS?

Uses Apache as its way to serve up the control panel but uses IIS to serve up client sites.

Thanks for the clarification!

Any comments from those who have used one or both Plesk/Helm, good or bad are welcome.

We want to move forward with a Windows control panel and these seem to be the leaders in the Windows arena.

I know Hsphere does both Win and Linux, I love it myself but find it very scary to put it in the hands of my customers due to it's less than user friendly interface.

Helm works great on a windows server. I have used Plesk for a short while on a windows server as well but found it not as smooth as running Plesk on linux or freebsd

If your looking for a window's based Helm would be my vote.

Plesk installs apache for its own functioning and the websites are hosted in IIS seperately.

IIS is used for the website hostings and apache is used for plesk functioning in a windows server.

In my opinion for a windows server HELM looks great !!!

SWSoft even admits that the Plesk for Windows is a step or two behind Plesk for Linux, so keep that in mind. Plesk is a good product but for windows I'd stick with Helm
