Ok, I would like if to hear what some people think are the requirements of a shared/reseller/co-located/dedicated host.

For example:

When people request a host, they request:

space
bandwidth
database
email
etc etc etc

I want to know if people can break down for me what other things should be considered in requesting a host.

Obviously there will be some similarities among the types of plans, but just list the differences, no need to repeat.

This is what I got so far:

Shared
- space
- bandwidth
- email
- database
- scripting (PHP, ASP, etc)

Reseller
Type of Plan (bulk plan or individual plans)
Windows or Linux

Co-located

Dedicated
Type of server (windows, sun/solaris/sparc/HP, Linux, Cobalt)
RAM
Hard Drive
Number of IP's
Need Backup?
Budget

Need some more help.

Thanks.

For shared hosting you might also consider FTP accounts, control panel used, and databases.

For colocation you would consider the price for support, distance from your house, if they have 24/7 access, reboots, and price. :D Some of those would work for dedicated servers too.
