Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good script to check domain names? I need something that can check for most TLD's and also displays the full list not just return for one TLD.

Also, suggestions would be nice, but probably a bit much for free. This is for a hosting site to allow users to check for a new domain

Thanks,

Thanks for the replys.

Top Dog looks interesting but only returns if one TLD is open or not. I may see if I can fix it to list other TLD's. I found that one and skipped it in my searching.

Also, I am in no way interested in paying for a simple script. I will writ e my own before buying something so silly. Why reinvent the wheel though, unless I have to. I already am putting too much time into a simple option for a website.

As for hotscripts you may as well have told me to google it. I already looked over a few at that site and did not notice one that met my needs. I may have missed it, but that is why I am here asking for recommendations. Maybe I need to make my posts clearer and simpler.

Hi,

Has anyone had any probems with the topdog whois script? especially in the way of .uk domain names....

Everytime I check a .uk domain name with it, it always returns it as registered, even if its not!

Thanks,
Rix

whois is no longer an acceptable method to check for a .uk domain - there is a new service called the DAC (Domain Availability Check) for that.

whois outputs and systems have been updated recently @ Nominet

Hi, thanks for replying....

I've looked at the nominet site about this and it looks like their running the DAC along side the whois.... by looking @ this page: http : // www . nominet. org . uk / other / whois / it appears that the DAC is for users that are going to be generating large amounts of traffic for the whois servers.

Has anyone got any suggestions of any open source / free web scripts for domain availability?

Thanks,
Rix

But do you have to have a domain reseller account for these scripts to work. Any free domain reseller account?
