View Full Version : Plesk: I get "password is invalid" when trying to create a domain user

I use Plesk to set up accounts on a reseller plan, but when I try to create a domain user for these domains (so that they can log into the control panel themselves to create email addresses, web users etc) I can't fill in a password for them. Every time it comes back with "password is invalid".

Any ideas, any of you?

thanks,

... if you use the same password as for the FTP user then it doesn't work. Same with email passwords. Choose a completely different password to try. My best guess.

The whole 'domain user' thing always gets me confused (without logging in, I can't recall which is which (domain user/web user), but if you're not talking about the type of users:

domain.com/~user

-and you set up just a password in the cp (which is what I think you're doing), then at the plesk login, your user would enter:

username: domain.com
password: password you set up

-and they should be able to log in.

This mystified me for quite some time, as there isn't any indication that the username should be the domain name (probably is in the manual but who the heck reads that, heh).

I found a "solution" - it works when I use Opera as my web browser.

The problem was indeed related to DOMAIN users (not web users). I know that the login name is domain.tld, but I could not set the password. Whatever I put in, it came back when I tried to update it: "Password is invalid".

But, like I said - I now use Opera when I log into the cp, small price to pay. But it stills seems kind of weird, I can set up accounts on another Plesk reseller package I have using Internet Explorer.

Well, I'm happy I found a way around it.

biosphere try this.

Go to your domain user. Uncheck the password. click update. If you don't have a password set, click update anyway. Then go back in and put the password in and click update.

Sorry, I read the post too quickly and didn't realize that you were having trouble before logging in (at the password creation point). Ignore that overly unhelpful post of mine :o
