View Full Version : looking for specific reviews

Okay, after lots of suggestions and research on WHT and other sources, I'm still trying to narrow down some hosting options.

I've narrowed it down to:

http://genius-hosting.com
http://www.hostinggroup.com
http://www.zeonhost.com
http://netacore.com

I've sent extensive emails with questions to all of them. I received some good responses (not saying who yet though ;) heh) and I'm considering those replies carefully.

I'd still like to hear what people have to say about these hosts. Please don't respond with generalized complaints or praise, especially "such & such a plan can't possibly work" or "they can't be good because of..." or "they were nice to me, they're great". I'd like to hear specific critical reviews or praise from people with direct experience. I know every host probably has a customer that didn't like them for one reason or another. I'm trying to get beyond that and find out if anybody has a really good reason why they had a bad experience. Or if you are offering praise, please be specific as to what exactly was so great. If you are an experienced customer, all the better. I'd like to get some replies from people who aren't just starting out (no offense to newbies, everybody has to start somewhere, but the advice of a more experienced customer who knows what they want will help me more). Thanks for your time and help, and be happy I didn't post my even longer, more specific questions on WHT :) haha

I know I asked for specific reviews which lowers a chance of anybody replying, was that too restrictive?

Thank you

any host that see's your running YAbb is most likely going to toss you. that board has a habit of eating cpu cycles. so you might run into problems.

wish you luck

Hello Siznet,
I have one of my sites hosted at zeonhost and the customer service is incredible. They use H-Sphere control panels. If you visit their support forum you will see that they always answer posts almost immediately. The speed of their servers is great. If you have anymore questions, let me know

Thanks,
Tony D.

I'm switching to phpBB as soon as I get on the new host anyway. I've already gone over that with prospective hosts, but thanks for the tip.

that's good, you'll make the host alot happier with it, I run it and I find it does not consume anything at all. another client uses it also and we don't see any real noticable problems with it

I've been trying to find a comparison between the new YaBBSe (which I can't even find on YaBB's website, it's on other scripting sites though, what's up with that? they don't support YaBBSe?) and phpBB. This is OT now (anybody have any feedback on those hosts? hahaha) but can anybody point me to a comparison between those two bboard systems?

Thanks
