I tend to look at the post count.

The post counts are a good way of filtering trolls. If someone with 10 posts recommends C*Host, he's probably clueless; if someone with 500 posts recommends C*Host, he's trolling.

The reverse holds for posts which promote unknown hosts; if the user is new, he's probably a spammer who just wandered in, but if they user has 500 posts it's probably a serious recommendation.

Yes I'd say the more posts, the more credibility - but then again maybe you shouldn't believe me as I don't have too many posts yet!

hmmm... 2 identical posts... could you be getting up your posts this way for more credibility??? Nah, just kidding... teasing you is all...

Anyway, what's stopping people from placing 500 posts in one day and then recommend himself on after the 500 posts?

I mean, they must be pretty dedicated to do something like that, but it's possible right?

To the topic, I do tend to look at the number of posts and mine don't look too impressive at the moment... but the only way for me to go and everyone else here, is up :)

I still look at them on my board. Maybe because it's a new board , ask me 3 months from now and the answer will probably be no:)

I always look at the post count. Then I can react on a descend way. BEcause when it's a n00b I'm something more friendly and explaining things a bit clearer etc.

I put down depends... but I think in most cases, I recognize most of the non-n00b names on this forum so sometimes I don't need to look at their post count. :)

I don't think it really matters. If that was the case then a lot of post counts would be cut in half. ....;)

Questions are the best kind of posts for credibility. After you ask a question, generally you get the answer, therfore, you know more. If all you do is answer questions, or comment about things, your not learning as much, however, it shows you are reading the posts which is a learning experience itself.

Good one Dragonhawk (and of course the double post was unintentional, but your comment was very apt)!

Also there is the law of diminishing returns. Thus after a certain high number of posts, having many more doesn't give much more of a credibility "bang."

Thus if I see someone with 500 posts, I just think they live here which is fine.

But if someone has 5,000 posts I would think they were born and raised here.
