I signed on with Hostica last year, and my service expired at the beginning of April. I switched to another host, but to my surprise, on my credit card report, they had charged me for a new year! I never asked for this.
I emailed them about this, and I was told to contact a certain "Ruth", who is either ignoring my emails or is taking a vactation. She's gotten 3 copies of the same email to date. I have her number, but can't call due to the fact that I'm at aschool. What should I do?

When you signed up, was it noted as a yearly recurring charge? If it was, and you did not cancel, they aren't doing anything wrong. That said, if you explain your situation and if they are a responsible company I'm sure that they would be happy to refund you anyway.

Did you call and cancel or assume after 1 year its up?
Most hosting companies state in their agreements that if you are on yearly billing you will automatically be billed for the next year unless you cancel in advance.
If that is the case then you will have to work it out with them.
