Ok, I have the following questions in my mind. :D

If an NOC does not use 95%rule..how to measure the bandwith usage for a server?
Can anyone explain with some details for me?

Thanks in advance.

Hi sodapopinski,

There are a few ways of calculating bandwidth:

1) By average.

2) By actual bytes transfered.

3) By the percentile method (like the 95th percentile method).

4) Capped line speed. This means that your server is connected via a specific line speed. This method does necessarily calculate your bandwidth usage, but will limit you to a certain amount of bandwidth.

Their may be others, perform a search on this forum and you will find much more information as this subject has been discussed several times.

I put information about bandwidth measuring systems, including their benefits and drawbacks, on the informational part of my site last year. You might find it helpful. Just click on the bottom part on my signature line.
