On boot of my system I get a page fault error w/ ntsokrnl.exe

Details

STOP:0x00000050 (0xFFFFFFF0, 0x000000000, 0x8044EF1E, 0x000000000)

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Address 8044EF1E base at 8040000000, DateStamp 3ad7ad60 - ntsokrnl.exe

I'm under the assumption that replacing ntsokrnl.exe will fix this problem (Me believing that only that file is corrupted)...

Other big problem... Cannot, for the life of me, find my windows disk. Not in any of my CD folders...

Would someone please kindly PM me w/ an address to download a Windows 2000 Server version of ntsokrnl.exe....

Please save my computer.

A question: did you install any other operating system recently (specifically linux) on the same HD? I had the same problem when I incorrectly installed redhat

Red Hat is installed on a seperate partition (same drive) but, the installion was a long time ago and I have had no problems w/ either OS until today...

NO major changes with either OS in weeks...

Last change was turning on NetBuei(spelling) to communicate with a 98 machine. But, system was fine until a re-boot about 3 hours ago... Now it refuses to boot.

Everytime I have seen that, it's been a memory or other hardware issue. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q171/0/03.asp

Hope that helps!

So what does the ntsokrnl.exe mean?..

If it is a memory error is it just coninscidence that this file is being loaded into a faulty piece of memory every boot?...

Do you believe it's a memory error or a file error?..

Well following the recommendations of RackMy I followed the directions from M$'s website...

Disable of CPU, External Cache = Hang on boot:angry:
Disable of External, CPU On = Hang on boot:angry:
Disable of CPU, External On = BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)

Other recommendations

Remove one SIMM and leave the other in...

Problem... I have 1 SIMM of 512 MB.... No spares around... :crying:

Any suggestions?... If i can find a replacement of ntsokrnl would that work?

btw.. Funny part of the website... Page designed for 2000 Pro/Serv/AdvncServ/DatacenterServ, NT Serv...

Well a quote from the document

For example, if you have four modules of 8 megabytes
(MB) each, remove two of the modules

..the repair option that you access during the setup process...Works sometimes...

I know this sucks...but the best way and quickest actually is to reinstall the server OS

cheers

The file you're looking for (ntsokrnl.exe) should be included in any service pack for Windows 2000. I'd suggest grabbing it out of Service Pack 2 if you really think the file is corrupted.
