View Full Version : Kicking off a web hosting business, need tips and suggestions please!
Artluo100 12-03-2005, 01:49 AM For the past months, I was thinking of starting a web hosting business with my friends. Well we finally started one but now I need help getting customers. Are there any tips on getting more customers?
Thanks.
AcBush 12-03-2005, 01:57 AM Well first, this should be in the "Running a Webhosting Business" Section. Welcome to WHT.
AcBush 12-03-2005, 01:59 AM As for an actual post, I think your domain name is hard to pronounce/remember and type. That's the first issue. As for prices, you're the only one who can really judge that. Some SEO would be good. I do not suggest Google Ads, as they are over saturated, but I do suggest getting an actual Media Company to assist, if you are serious.
Artluo100 12-03-2005, 02:00 AM Thanks, I'll look into that.

And that's where it is now. :)

AcBush 12-03-2005, 02:05 AM I hope you have money. Not Cheap at all. But if you're serious, do some newspaper ads for locally, and get in touch with an advertising company. They are your answer.

Only because I love and care for WHT so much, that I look for posts that should be moved. :)
:lovewht:
GoodLuck. :agree:
Artluo100 12-03-2005, 02:05 PM alright I'll see if I can look into advertisement.
atchoooo 12-03-2005, 02:57 PM Find a niche market. Start really focussing on something and be the best in that niche. Could be wordpress hosting, blog hosting, french language hosting ... anything that you can think of that is not too crowded and that you can be the best in. Once you'll be the best in your niche you can think of expending to other web hosting markets.
Artluo100 12-03-2005, 06:55 PM Any suggestions for a niche?
Well I'm a Christian, and I was wondering if I started a web host company for Christian based organizations, communites and etc, is it a good area to aim for?
CArmstrong 12-03-2005, 07:41 PM Your niche could be that you hold to Christian values and don't allow content like pornography. This is definitely a niche, and although I've seen a few Christian hosts, it's not nearly as flooded as other niches (does a flooded niche make it not a niche by definition?).

Artluo100 12-03-2005, 07:50 PM Oh I see, that would be a good idea. I will def. look into that.
I've was looking at reseller zoom's budget plans, I think I will be getting the budget 3 plan. Then I looked at their advanced plans, and they have a billing system. Is it worth it for the billing system and the extras? Is there a better company that I should look at?

Their Advanced Reseller plans are well worth the money. The resources they provide you with should your company give a good kick-off. :)
Artluo100 12-03-2005, 09:32 PM Okay I think I'm going with the advance plan
Artluo100 12-03-2005, 09:53 PM Wait does this plan give me whatever domain name that I want? or do I have to setup my own domain?
ImBae.net 12-03-2005, 11:59 PM there are many ways of advertisements to get customers. to reach potential customers faster, yahoo search marketing would be the best way--although many are in favor or google adwords.
Artluo100 12-04-2005, 12:04 AM Yeah I was looking at that today
