I'm looking for a kinda low cost solution in a pinch. I was just authorized to stream our local hockey team's finals games on the net. I would be like 4 games but possibly 7 each game about 3 hours with about a 30 minute pregame and 30 minute post game show. I am also looking for a static ip address as well. Not sure how much bandwidth needed because i never did this b4. I do have a rackshack server but I dont want to compromise the performance of our server so therefore If you guys know any hosts capable of doing this please let me know. And if you know about how much bandwidth I would need also please let me know I only wanna stream for 28.8 modems but ppl with faster connections would be able to listen also. I prefer to broadcast in a Windows format becuase of media players reach so ppl dont have to download special software. I have a broadband connection but I'm sure after a few ppl the quality would degrade and my provider may cut me off. So please let me know if you know of anyone who can do this. I could always get another server from rackshack but I dont want to waste the setup money for just a few hours of use and I currently dont need another server right now because we are just starting out.

i am a newbie who just did research on finding a host (about 30 hours worth) and streaming features were something i considered, so maybe my 2 cents might help you out.
i signed on with webaxxs.net their prices and reputation are great and they do support streaming real player audio and video but not windows media streaming (your visitors would have to download the files first in regards to WM)
for 14.95/month 500mb diskspace and 8gb bandwith
site5.com supports streaming of real player and quicktime and windows media files. from my research they also have a good reputation. their prices are a bit steeper than webaxxs.net for the amount of disk space you get but you get lots of bandwith
(i think for 16.95/month you get 200mb diskspace and 10GB bandwith)
well thats my meager 2 cents

Great thread as I am also looking for streaming server.
I checked these 2 sites, and I guess site5.com doesn't offer streaming server.
They say "stream Real audio through HTTP server,,," and not RTSP server.
WebAxxs offers Real server G2, which is not the newest one though. seems good.
I am currently using gearhost.com through HTTP server. It's working, but when I registered to thier service,
they showed Real server was available on thier site (that's why I chose them) but actually not.
Then they removed it from thier site,,,:bawling:
So I need to look for a host that offers streaming server.
Is there anyone knows about it? something like
100-200MB web space
around 10GB or more bandwidth
Real server or WM server
around 20$, reliable company and service,,,
Thanks,
Takalien

I've played around with streaming media so I've also scouted out providers that offered it. I used real media and I found a company called http://prohosting.com They offer both On demand and LIVE real media streaming. And it was included in with the hosting plan. I signed up & did my event and canceled. It served my purpose.
I hope I'm not to late and hope it helps.
