Hello,

I was under the assumption that for all dedicated servers FTP accounts were unlimited. It seems that HostCentric charges $10 set up and $2.50 additional a month for such a feature. Now I know very little about the technical aspect of this, but as a dedicated server owner couldn't I just set up as many accounts as I wished? Is this fee normal for the industry? Just wondering

No, that's not normal for a dedicated server.

You have to ask them about it, but perhaps they'll only charge you if they have to set the FTP accounts up and manage them for you?

That's really strange considering it's a dedicated server. Is it a managed server?? Maybe they mean that's how much it will cost if you ask them to add an FTP account.

What kind of "FTP Account" One for the root domain? or for subfolders?

:) Hostcentric does not increase the monthly fee for additional ftp logins on dedicated servers. If the server has root access, we show the user how to set up the first few and they can add as many as they want. If the server is managed, we will add a reasonable number of ftp logins at no cost. However, what does happen is that a managed server customer will call in constantly to have us add or modify ftp logins. In these cases we will charge a setup fee to do the work, but not increase the monthly cost.
