Hey Everyone,

I’m looking for a low-cost high quality toll-free provider. I like the set-up angel.com uses, so if there is anything similar, please let me know.

I do have one specific detail. Is it possible to have the minutes stop once the call has been transferred to another number? For instance, if I bought a plan that had 200 minutes with call forwarding and I wanted the minutes to stop being counted once the call had been forwarded to my cell phone, would that be possible?

I know there are a lot of topics on toll free numbers, but I couldn’t find any w/ the specific detail listed above.

I use Vonage for VOIP and pay $25/Month with a Toll-Free number, and I believe 500 minutes for the regular number and something like 100 for the Toll-Free.

I forget exactly.

The call is still connected to the toll-free number, even if you use call forwarding or some other method to redirect the termination point... it's just getting redirected at the 800 provider's router to send the call somewhere other than its normal destination. They're still on the hook for paying your customer's phone company for the call, so you're still on the hook for paying for it. ;)

kall8.com is the best - we switched to them from AT&T and my Toll-Free bill is 70% less right now.

We have been eyeing the gotvmail.com solution for several months now since their service seems to be quite affordable and the features pretty impressive too. The virtual office idea is so neat.

We decided to go with FreedomVOICE

We've been using gotvmail for over a year and have been really satisfied. Even though we are in a office complex, we found their solution to be less expensive and more reliable (as well as offering more features) than an in-house PBX or phone company solution.

Kasey is exactly right regarding the charges, though. You're not going to find a toll-free provider that stops billing upon forwarded connection.

We're currently testing Angel.com, which is great so far. Their IVR and concept of a "voice site" is so easy to set up and is so professional. Also, I wanted to be able to change the caller ID so that when the call is routed to remote workers or to me, it is clearly a call forwarded from the toll free service. The only prohibitive factor is the per minute charge for additional minutes after you meet your limit.

Considered GotVmail but they seem to charge extra for some features like emailing the voicemails to you, etc.

Considering getting VOIP service and using Asterisk but that's a little more manual work than I'd like to perform at the moment.

You can use nufone.net with Asterisk PBX, we've many customers who are using nufone.net! the Nufone offer Toll-Free DIDs @ $0.02/min and no monthly fee.

Cheers,
Beruska

I actually just cancelled w/ FreedomVOICE, I didn’t have a very good experience, and I didn’t like the set-up.

I think we’re going to have to try Gotvmail or Kall8.

I like the way. i got Vmail looks. Is anyone using the standard $10 plan and want to let me know if it is good enough, or if I need to add some stuff to it?

Does anyone use RingCentral (http://www.ringcentral.com), they seem to offer great features!

I have been using RingCentral for a few months now. I love it! The only feature that they don't have is custom music on hold, but other than that, they have everything and it's been great.

I am looking into this and am stuck between ringcentral and gotvmail. My problem with got Vmail is that it has no minutes and it has a setup fee. But, gotvmail also allows you to check mail over phone, has call waiting music, notifies you who is calling, and important for me allows you to change greating through the phone.
I like the fact that RingCentral has minutes included and has no set up fee. But, you can only set up your greeting via a mic through your computer. That is alittle bothersome since I know the quality will not be as good and I would like to have someone I know do the welcome message.

Any more companies around $10 a month worth looking into?

Now if I could just find one that functions on paypal instead of sending payments via snailmail!

For RingCentral, you can also record the greetings by uploading a wav file and by calling into your number (with passwords).

You can also check your voicemail over the phone with RingCentral (I am 90% sure, although I have never tried it) and it does have music on hold (with their standard music).

I was browsing and came across this - forgive me for going off-topic - but it's just too ironic. The company we began has a focus on SEO/submission. My phone number (I started following links) turns out to be TYP-META or even TYR-META (I don't know how many people would understand that though) even.

Anyhow, sorry about that, but it was interesting enough to share and besides, today's Friday. ;)
