View Full Version : The worst web hosting service!!!
skinnypig 04-24-2002, 08:21 AM THE WORST RESELLER PACKAGE PLEASE READ
I bought an reseller web hosting package in Ebay from Comistic.com
and I think it's probably the worst reseller package!!
First, they sell the reseller package for only $199 per year, and they offer UNLIMITED web space, UNLIMITED bandwidth for clients and they mentioned that the price ($199) will not be offer again or your money back. (I thought it was a bargain but I was TOTALLY WRONG!)
Less than 7 days, they listed another $199.99 reseller package in Ebay. I immediately sent email to them and ask my money back, and they just reply "we are selling at $199.99 and not $199, the prices are not the same thus no refund can be issued!!!!!
Second, they keep adding restructions on their acceptable use policy after we paid the money. They are not allowed clients to upload mp3 even the clients have the copyrights! Furthermore, uploading too much files (hundreds of picture with 100kb each) are NOT allowed! So, what's the point of UNLIMITED web space?
Third, they will suspend your account with NO warning and no reason...
Last but not least, the sites are always down (including comistic site and all the clients sites). This happens for more than 3 times a day!
If you and your friends are planning to get a reseller or web hosting package, PLEASE do not buy from comistic. They offer you UNLIMITED web space with UNLIMITED restrictions!
skylab 04-24-2002, 08:23 AM they look and sound like a scam.
p1net 04-24-2002, 08:32 AM I think the point is that unlimited is never good.
:flamethr: :uzi: Unlimited
Techark 04-24-2002, 08:44 AM Unlimited means you are gonna get messed over.
There is no such thing as an unlimited hard drive so how can they give you unlimited space? Bandwidth cost money that is a fact for $199.99 a year there is no way you can get unlimited bandwidth. Someone has to pay for it. Unlimited is a marketing scam, sorry you got caught in the trap
If it says unlimited RUN.
Monte
Incognito 04-24-2002, 08:54 AM It probably is.
unlimited is never a good thing....I am sorry to hear that you got screwed over, hopefully now you will held educate others about the misconceptions of unlimited.

BMurtagh 04-24-2002, 09:08 AM call your credit company and get a chargeback & ebay complain about them & also check out the BBB see if they are a registered company.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune mate, but that bit there is rather cute. I've never seen a "never to be repeated" price actually go up next. Let's hope that doesn't catch on. :)
Cheers

how to check out the BBB? and what is BBB??
BBB is Better Business Bureau (http://www.bbb.org).
BadBoy 04-24-2002, 11:39 AM There reseller account seems lousy,
This is posted on there site:
One of the hottest things on the internet today is the web hosting industry, and now is your chance to get in on the action. With a resellers account you are able to sign up as many people for hosting as you like, and you only pay the low monthly rate of $49.99. You pay the same if you have 10 sites or 100 sites. This is not a typo. You can host unlimited domain names with unlimited disk space, and you only pay one low monthly fee, there is NO EXTRA CHARGES for ANYTHING!
The only stipulation is that you may not enter more than 5 new sites per day, or 100 new sites a month. The reason we limit new site sign ups is to discourage fly by night hosting companies dumping hundreds of new sites on our server and degrading our service. If you have an account with us and you happen to sign up more than 5 on a given day, by all means you can open them all that day. We are reasonable and want to work with you to create a great working relationship. When you do get to the point that you have hundreds of clients than truthfully you would be better off with your own server. We are here to foster your growth!
DesElms 04-24-2002, 11:59 AM This is not an "unlimited" issue. True, this situation could be a cautionary tale that helps to make the point of those who decry the use of the word "unlimited" when applied to web hosting. (A sentiment with which I agree, incidentally.) But, the larger issue here is the nearly fraudulent mindset of the hosting company.
The $199 versus $199.99 rationalization is hair-splitting to the point of bad faith -- and a clear indication that this people are hucksters, plain and simple. And, I might add, most judges would not permit such an intentional loophole and would rule in favor of skinnypig were it ever to go to court.
This is the very type of situation that credit card companies had in mind when they created chargeback procedures. Though I loathe the overuse of chargebacks and rarely recommend that anyone avail themselves of them, this is clearly a case where skinnypig should not think twice about doing so. And I also strongly encourage complaints to eBay and the BBB and anyone else who matters.

I'm about to sound a bit harsh here, so if you're sensitive, please don't read this, but it's for your benefit.
First, they sell the reseller package for only $199 per year, and they offer UNLIMITED web space, UNLIMITED bandwidth for clients and they mentioned that the price ($199) will not be offer again or your money back. (I thought it was a bargain but I was TOTALLY WRONG!)
What were you thinking? Did you seriously think you can actually use an unlimited amount of web space and bandwidth for only about $17 per month? Think about this, would you let a bunch of people use an unlimited amount of disk space and bandwidth on your computer for only about $17 per month? What's to stop anyone from filling up your hard drive or slowing your connection down to a crawl?
Less than 7 days, they listed another $199.99 reseller package in Ebay. I immediately sent email to them and ask my money back, and they just reply "we are selling at $199.99 and not $199, the prices are not the same thus no refund can be issued!!!!!
As if $17 per month wasn't crazy enough, now you're angry because you couldn't get an unlimited web space and bandwidth reseller package for free? I'm sorry to say, but that's just asking to be ripped off.
If it was really unlimited, what's to stop anyone from filling up the hard drive?
Third, they will suspend your account with NO warning and no reason...
Last but not least, the sites are always down (including comistic site and all the clients sites). This happens for more than 3 times a day!
Just imagine a few people using up all of your disk space and bandwidth on your computer. Wouldn't your computer start having problems too? No wonder they're always down!
If you and your friends are planning to get a reseller or web hosting package, PLEASE do not buy from comistic. They offer you UNLIMITED web space with UNLIMITED restrictions!
Believe it or not, I've seen worse reseller packages, and yet, people still buy them. What happens to people's common sense? I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way. We all learn things the hard way, but this one could have been prevented using common sense. Oh well, live and learn. :(

Now, let's be fair. I suspect that their downtime is limited to no more than 24hrs per day. :D
