I am suffering from info overload. Such good offers. I did searches here and came up with pretty good comments on the hosts I have in question. However to make sure experiences are up-to-date & also to collect them under one post so its easier to process I am posting this question.

As a client (reseller) not offering hosting as a primary service, I need much hand-holding....and overall quick, reliable customer support. I would be moving from a current host with individual plans who has offered excellent customer support but because of the advantages of bulk hosting plans I plan to move. I am terrified of moving on to a situation where I get less customer support than I have now become accustomed to. Which of the following can existing or past clients of the following hosts recommend both for uptime and customer support?

SurrenderOnline.com
SplashHost.com
PixelSeven.com
EcommerceDiscovery.com
MCHost.com

here's my opinion (and it might be flawed):
PixelSeven -

A relatively new company in the reseller biz, however very cheap plans and additional b/w, ips, diskspace is competitive as well. Support seems to be reasonably fast. Servers are fast and seem to be stable. Servers are all (as far as I know) @ dv2. I believe there's a max of 12 resellers per server. Check with Sean though.

McHost -

A well known name. Has a large user (read:reseller) community that is very helpfull and offers some scripts to their resellers. Servers are at various places, however most of them are/will be @ dv2. Will offer a new, in house, control panel in the future to replace whm/cpanel. My guess is McHost will be in the biz for a long time. Prices are slightly higher then P7 and SplashHost afak.

SplashHost -

(I haven't been with them since about january)

Also a well known name. Has a forum up for their customers to talk to each other. I'm not sure how large this community is though. SplashHost offers speedy support and several additional cpanel skins to their customers. Servers are fast. I'm not sure where the servers are located. Prices in between P7 and McHost. However, as far as I remember, SplashHost limits the # of accounts for the cheapest reseller plan to 60 domains (which is very reasonable).

Again, it's just my experience/opinion. Always check their website.

Though I haven't tried other places, but I’m a happy customer at Pixelseven. The network speed very fast and downtime is pretty low. Tech support is very prompt, Sean has been very helpful though AIM answering all my questions and helped me with a lot of script installations. Overall they're very good for the price, I highly recommend them.

Well, Alan at SplashHost has never held my hand (people would talk :D ), but he's always been super quick in responding to my questions. Since February, I've been running on on one of his servers in Dallas, which have dual 1 gz PIII's with SCSI drives, with no complaints! IMHO, support and server speed has been excellent.

95Degrees, I assume that you would be setting up your web design clients. This would be perfect for you. Believe me, a bulk plan is the way to go until you get up to needing a dedicated.

Best of Luck!

I'm with SplashHost and am very happy there. I havn't tried any other services so I'm not knocking them. Alan is very good with support and their forums are a great place for help/advice.

I've never used any of them, but I'll throw my hat in for Alan (SplashHost) considering the troubles he struck last month. I've seen issues like that tumble more than one host, but he got through and retained a large percent (if not all) of his customer base. I can only put that down to a close commitment to his clients, keeping them informed, and showing genuine concern for their well being.

Strange, they must have taken down their promo.

Why don't you contact them? It's worth it... :D

Considering SurrenderOnline... (for a change  hehe)

Well we are currently doing business with them, not reselling, but in the design areas, and they are great! Fast responses, friendly, and just really great - I have and still do enjoy doing business with them! 3 thumbs up! :D

I have no experience with the others but splashhost.com I had a reseller account with them. I can assure you won't regret at least for a few years to come. Alan does an excellent job and the servers are maintain in top performance and monitored at all times.

Support is excellent. He's always available anytime and usually response almost instantly to solve any problems that you may have.

Well I started out as one of the early resellers of splashhost and I still have my reseller space with Alan [although my own server has been hired and up for 84 days and most of the accounts have been moved there]

Alan, is very committed to his business and clientele and I heartily recommend him; he had a lot of problems during the 1st week of Jan 2002, but has come out on top and has moved on to hire more servers and an admin [so I hear]

My real comfort feeling with Alan is that he is WYSIWYG - no airs and doesn't bull****; I dont know about others though

Cheers

Hi Cactus. As a reseller, I am sure nobody should monitor performance besides the interested one. It is up to you to tell your clients, or not, but don't expect that your supplier is going to tell you when the server is down.

Maybe, just maybe they will.

hmm that is interesting also...

We have a new site coming tonigh but that not important, the fact that we STOLE something?

Are you serious?

I did not know that MC host sold Normal packages...

I also did not know that the words CPANEL/WHM? etc are trademarks of MC.

There is always around 4 to five effective ways to state something on a website or on a ad.

If this is considered to be copying i guess many of us are guilty...

Words of my designer " Once reading through so many sites and getting ideas, its hard if not impossiable to incorporate your own with out stepping on another ones toes..."

kdghsu its sad how many try to destroy reputation around here and its even sadder that your part of it. Or maybe your a competitor not mentioned and a little jealous???

No time for clowning around we have a business to run...

:D hehehe choppy is fired up!!

But I have to agree, you cannot design a site now days and not have something on it someone has not mentioned b4, also you can not have some aspects of your design that someone else has not done b4. If it was a total copy and paste then for sure be pissed but it is not so I see NO problem??

Hi etreus,

I agree with you it's not the resellers responsibility pertaining to server performance but if you can provide some information to your clients to assure of the server effeciencies, then I guess clients will be more confortable with that particular Reseller that they sign up with.

From experience with Alan(splashhost.com) at one time their servers were down for a while and all resellers were informed and that indicated to us that the Host monitored their server performance, was honest and sincere and doing everything they can to eliminate the problem. They finally fixed the problem and so far they have been excellent on everything from my experience with them.

Regards.

Pixelseven is a pain to use their website...

I just sent a message to sales, info, and support emails... I'm waiting to see how long it takes for them to get back...

Interesting thing... I got an autoresponder back from support, and it was from pixel7@hawaii.dnsvault.com... which McHost uses dnsvault.com.

Interesting...

Well... it's been almost 24 hours... and no word from pixel7.

I've pretty much scratched them off my list of hosting companies.

I'm not at all impressed.

Well,

I've got to add everyday internet solutions (http://www.eishost.com) to the list of rather nice and helpfull hosting providers. Customer support is one of the best I've seen so far. Always helpfull and not stopping to find the answer for you till it's solved.

Just check them out and if you would have the time to ask some questions, go and have a look yourself. Say hi for me to Matt if you would talk to him.

Regards,

Erik
