I fnished a template for someone this weekend. The entire time I thought he was fishy and I didnt trust him. I partially coded the site, I uploaded it to my server to show as a demo, Not trusting him I added a no right click code and took out one image.

He was in the process of paying me and changed his mind very drastically. HE raved how he loved it and in a few seconds said "Im not happy with it" "you can keep it im not paying you". Well he kept it and uploaded it to his site:

http://www.ruined4lyfe.com

If you look at the page source you will see:
<!-- saved from url=(0035)http://www.digital-studios.net/R4L/ -->

http://www.digital-studios.net is my portfolio, I removed the site as soon as I thought he was bull****ting me.

What do I do? I dont want him to keep the site up, He wont pay and hes using it anyways.

Any suggestions?

I feel for you. Why do browsers allow people to view source code? I do not understand this.

This is what I would try...

Type up a very official looking "Cease and Desist" email (look on Google for samples)...create a new email account like "piracy@yourdomain.com"...then send it to him using the new email account.

If that doesn't stop him, look up his server provider and report him to them (Jelsoft of vBulleting fame do this all time and get accounts closed).

Do you know any forums he visits? If so, reply to his topics (politely) and share with the community what he has done).

See what happens. :)

Do you have a contract with him? At the very least, do you have a documented set of exchanges that show he was to pay you for the work you did?

Unfortunately, no matter how right you are, you're probably going to spend much more energy than is worthwhile trying to bring justice down on him or get paid. I would suggest making others aware of him, so no one will do business with him again. Other than that, unless you're talking about thousands of dollars, take it on the chin and move on.

I added a no right click codeWhoever informed you in the first place that this was a good way to secure anything online should be shot.
