I just got a 24 port 2800 catalyst switch for 36 bucks. Its only 10mbps, but thats not a huge deal. Anyhoot I was hopeing it would use the same consle port my cisco 2500 router uses to connect terminally, but it dosent. It appears to have a db-9 port on the back, they call it a RS-232 Port and I was wondering if I connect a db-9 cable(serial or whatever you want to call it) to that (the cable uses a male side for it) and if I got a db-9 male to male connector(I assumeing someone sells them, im checking now) can I do that and then use hyperterminal to connect to my switch? Thanks

Yes, you should be able to use a rs-232 to rj-45 adapter.

sorry, I think you misunderstood me. From my catalyst switch I plan to go from a db-9 male cord then to my computer with the other side of a db-9 male cord. I was wondering if I needed to use to the rsr cord
