I have a photo that I would like to use as a webpage background. I would like to see it converted to greyscale, and faded considerably so it almost looks like a watermark on the page.

I have paint shop pro 7 on my machine. I`ve search several tutorials but they all seem to be based on gradients that go either left to right, or vice versa. I wanted the whole image to fade into a white background no gradients.

Thanks.

Do you have an alpha/opacity option in your PSP layers? I'm wholly unfamiliar with PSP, so I'm guessing there's something like this in there. You should be able to change the color pallette to greyscale and simply change this alpha or opacity setting to get the desired effect.

http://mardiweb.com/web/psp7/tools/paint/paint.htm

look under "Lightness Up/Lightness Down"

another http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/paintshoppro/ht/pspvignette.htm

google has tons of links to Shop Pro 7 tutorials.

Lol, that was easy enough!! I wish had looked first!

Yes, the opacity option in layers `properties` was easily done :)
