I have a short and simple question really :)
When launching a new website, what is the fastest way to have the searchengine spiders pick up the new site? Should the website be submitted to all searchengines available, or will they all find the site within a couple of days without submitting the url to seperate search engines?
Thanks in advance for your help!
PS - The meta tags on the site are fully optimized for the search engines..

Never ever submit your URL to any search engine... it's just plain ol' not needed. The quickest way to get indexed is to get links on websites that have PR4 or better. If you get a link on a PR4, you'll be crawled in a couple days. PR5, 48hrs... PR6, 24hrs... PR7, 10hrs. Basically, just try and get some links pointing to you and you'll be gooder than grits.

hmmm when you have two URL's for two different websites, and they both lead to the same website, wouldn't it be more positive for the pagerank if you actually link the first site to the second, instead of auto forwarding it?

submit a google sitemap to Google... especially while it is still in beta, I think Google is giving more attention to sites that do this than perhaps they will in the future.
Sounds like you are better off setting a 301 redirect if you are trying to pass a couple URL's to lead to the same site.

Its a new site and it has no PR so If a SE can not find any links leading to your new site it will not find it to index it on its own..
LINK to the new-site from current-site AND use a free SE submission service to submit your SiteMap as noted by i-devs..

use the search engine submit pages... for the most part it's not really needed but it doesn't hurt.
The quickest way is just get it linked to on other sites. A few months back I did a website for a group. I linked to the site on my blog and also had a few friends link. I submited to the usual big names engines; google, altavista, yahoo, etc. then I searched out and found some free directories of websites about the topic and submited the site there.
took about a week but now the sites get tons of search engine hits

One of our favorite and least expensive methods is to create a press release. We usually use PRWEB.COM because of its ease. PRWEB's home page has a PR of 7, and gets spidered a lot. If you spend a little cash $30 or so, you can easily achieve a PR 3 by submitting 2-3 newsworthy press releases.
Good luck!

There are many ways to have your site on search enginees such as submit your url to web directory and have your link on every post you made on forums hmm whatelse? :-) place some adsense ads << this really does a job
