senior 11-27-2005, 05:37 AM Hi,
I'd like to know where is reseller-center.com standing right now...
are they still in business?
I need to host a site with them, I signed up for a new account but 4 days now i didn't get any reply but a 'wait for activation email'... I emailed their sales, then their support but didn't get any reply too.
Are they back?, or just had a new website design?
cartika-andrew 11-27-2005, 06:01 AM Hello Senior,
more then likely youve been flagged in their fraud system. Try contacting them directly and make sure you include the username you entered during signup.
reseller-center is owned by VIP/DIY hosting. Do a search for either of these (DIY or VIP) and you'll come up with a long list of tales of woe. My advice is to count your lucky stars that they're being true to form by starting off badly and go to a different host.

Do they have a telephone number you could contact them on?

markTab 05-21-2006, 01:26 PM Hi -- I am a current reseller-center.com customer (as of today, May 21, 2006), and have been a customer continuously since April 2004 (before the VP/DIY transition).
The bad (under VP/DIY):
* Several times email has gone down and they were lost, meaning gone forever
* Service was completely down in early 2005, and they did not provide compensation (to me, as requested in ticket support) for time down
* Recently MS SQL has been reconfigured, causing cascading problems on FTP (switching to PORT as opposed to PASV)
* Customer forum was completely removed, no notice or notification to customers
* Cannot get tech staff to admit when they make a mistake (indicates probable organizational tension between or among tech staff, and perhaps between staff and overall management)
* Never could get web-based MS SQL manager to work
The good:
* Reseller plans were improved, more features lower cost -- I lowered my plan (cost, not features), but customers have to do that manually (obviously it doesn't happen by itself)
* Tech support turnaround fairly quick throughout entire transition time
* Resolved MS SQL security problems, allowing Enterprise Manager to work again
* Resolved inability to switch to dedicated IP for SSL (option was not on)
Still to do
* Earn 99% uptime claim (as of May 2006)
* Open forum again
* Balance MS SQL server usage (including cleaning out DBs no longer used)
* Rebuild credibility among current customers by periodically communicating facts in service features and upgrades
* Demonstrate that the reseller-center.com staff and management is a happy family (take pictures at a group party if you need)
On that last point, I wonder why more web hosters in general tell quite little about the people in their company. Perhaps some might see it as hokey, but I never believe that the stock-photo-babes really work there. Also, I don't like working with a tech support person who is afraid of losing their job.
No company is perfect, and in context, I don't know of any web hosting company which is providing dynamic uptime statistics based on actual data (and not just summarized claims) -- as programmers among us know, it is possible. We can expect, in the future, for companies to distinguish themselves with live numbers based on the last week, month, and year.
Groobash 05-23-2006, 09:21 PM Call your credit card company to cancel any charges, then RUN away from R-C as fast as possible.
Take it from a long time current (and very soon to be ex) R-C customer.
I can't believe they're still letting people sign up...or in your case attempt to!
johnwinner 06-06-2006, 10:27 PM I have problems with MSSQL servers since they switched to SQL Server 2005.
They informed me that there was security problems and they needed to turn off outside access to the databases. Meaning that you can't access your DBs from Enterprise Manager or Sql Server Managemetn Studio or any other remote access!
The access was granted again a couple days ago and then disallowed again...
No information about the situation anywhere, you have to open a support ticket.
I began to transfer everything to my other reseller account at JodoHost.

That is a long to-do list. Anyways, in the present world of web hosting, uptime less than 99% is not so acceptable anymore, unless you are hosting personal and family sites.
ldcdc 06-07-2006, 08:04 AM uptime less than 99% is not so acceptable anymore, unless you are hosting personal and family sites.99.5% is already pretty unsatisfactory if you ask me. 99% would mean a very bad month. :)
equinexus 06-28-2006, 01:14 AM arrghhhh!!!
so sick and tired of looking for reliable Windows reseller hosting...
Reseller-Center.com was great for the first year but since April I've had lots and lots and lots of down time, all of it due to SQL Server. Every time SQL Server goes down it takes all of my .NET sites down. Customers are HOPPING MAD... who could blame them... their sites are down in the middle of the day
this is my easymonitor.com report for the last two days
06/27/06 11:46 HTTP Error Internal Server Error ----- 24 minutes

will have to ditch them soon... thinking of ************
mtm81 07-06-2006, 04:37 AM Hi, I'm currently with RC and to say their service is rubbish is an understatement...
so I'm gonna shift everyone..
need another hpshere web host really.....
was thinking about jodohost, but looking for someone other than that really...
any opinions ??
premium20 07-06-2006, 04:50 AM Apart from Jodo, I believe Cartika and Vortech are other good H Sphere options. Fluid Hosting is also a safe bet.
