Hi, and thanks in advance for any help. I have my own dot com but would like to host it on my own webserver . I am currently running win2000 pro IIS 5.0.

Can you help me set this up or please point me in the right direction as to where I could find out.

cheers

umm how about you buy the domain somewhere that supports redirection \ masking then get a dns2go account or similar and mask it to that.

Try dns2go (http://dns2go.deerfield.com/)

Also you might take a look at dslwebserver (http://dslwebserver.com/)

i thought it only installed by default on the others, i think it comes with pro as well. never tried as ive only ever used it on the server version.

Windows 2000 Pro comes with limited IIS5 (one website), Windows 2000 Server comes with full blown IIS5 (unlimted websites).

To host a domain on your computer, make a "ADDRESS" record to your computer's IP, then in IIS, create a host header of your domain. That's it.

Thanks for the tip ... just one thing how do I go about making an "ADDRESS" record for my IP address? I've got the HTTP Header thing worked out

you can do that by loging in to your domain control panel from where you registered your domain.
