Hi everyone,

I spent the last 2 days searching the web for the best Win2000 dedicated server hosting companies and right now I still have quite a few left on my list. If anyone has any experience with any of these or can recommend another one, please let me know.

The solution we are looking to host involves 3 dedicated servers, which also need to be connected via a "private LAN"

SkyNetWEB.com
they were the fastest to reply, understood immediately what we want and gave detailed information, pricing seems ok

Verio.com
We are already hosting a dedicated server with Verio (formerly Digital Nation) and are satisfied with everything there, BUT they could not offer us the "private LAN" option we need. They are supposed to have a new program for that though, which should go in "beta" in May (not sure if we want to be their beta testers though)

Cybercon.com
speedy reply, but still in discussion, pricing could be a bit less than at SkyNetWEB

Wisol.com
speedy reply, familiar with what we want, cheapest so far. I have not read/heard anything about them at all so far though

still waiting for offers from:

DellHost, SuperbNet, Dialtone, Halfpricehosting, VortechHosting, OLM.net, Alabanza, ServerVault, axxs.net, TopNotchHosting and rapidcolo.

Anything you can tell me? Any experience yourself ? Any recommendations for websites to look at for comparison (like award pages)?

Thank you :)
Max

Have you tried rackspace.com? I have no experiece with them, but they have the best reputation around. I have also read something about their private network connection between two servers that is supposed to save you transfer cost(private LAN).

Check out http://rackspace.com.

Hi Peter,

thanks for the tip, I will add them to my list and check them out as well :)

I suggest adding http://www.rackmy.com/ to your list of potential hosts. They also have a very good reputation.

TinTin... If you're happy with your present host but just want a private LAN between your w2000 desktops in different cities why not just set up a Virtual Private Network tunnel for use by your company W2000 desktops? Came with your W2000 OS. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're after on the bottom line:confused:

Hello old man :)

if possible, we don't want to have to pay for the traffic between the servers, that's the thought :) Otherwise we could do as you suggested, yes.

One of the servers is an application server which sends loads of requests to the SQL server. The SQL server doesn't need an internet connection itself.

Thank you for your input though!
