I know about Vservers and *****, but are there any more? Duster 01-11-2001, 02:13 PM Semi dedicated? Is that like semi pregnant? In both cases, there is no in between. Do you mean virtual server rather than a virtual hosting account? If you want a decent one, do a search anywhere on *****. They won't be in any rational person's consideration. Forget the smoke, where there are flames, there is fire. WWWhost 01-11-2001, 05:26 PM <<Admin edit : sorry, far too borderline to not be considered advertising.>> Duster 01-11-2001, 08:12 PM It can't be like something that doesn't exist. I did take a quick look. Your dedicated disk reseller program is an interesting addition to the virtual server market. The description was very straightforward. In fact, the only misleading thing I found on that page was: "No setup fees for domains! Unlimited transfer rate!* *No doma can use more than 15% of server output." Not only is domain misspelled as doma (seems like it's just not finished), but you tell the great unlimited transfer lie, albeit with qualification. I would suggest changing that since it doesn't fit in with the otherwise direct and accurate descriptions the site contains. WWWhost 01-11-2001, 10:22 PM sorry ADMIN perhaps I have specific too much our service and that has ben considered ADV. OK duster yes you have right. Traffic is not free. And we cannot give unlimited transfer. There should be some limits. So we have limit it to 15% of server output a month and put this in red. Duster 01-12-2001, 02:53 AM Right. Some limits is not the same as no limits. Why lie, even if you take it back on the next line? UnitedTec 01-12-2001, 05:52 AM Have you tried iserver.com? I've never used them, but I think they offer what you are looking for. WWWhost 01-12-2001, 08:16 AM Hmm... ok let me explain our sistem. Since we are an italian company and in italy peaple stay away from companys that gives limits of transfer every hosting service trie to give unlimited transfer. OK! you say that is not possible. You have rigt!. But this is mor a psicological problem than a real problem. Because a normal Web site does not go over 500-700MB of traffic a month and most of sites have around 100-200 traffic. (that is was we see in aroun 2 years of webhost experience). So if there is a web site (1%) that have 5GB or 7.5GB of traffic (we never had a site that has more than 4GB of traffic)we will be glade to give them this traffic for free but can have more customers because we give unlimited traffic. More customers means more profit. If we have a site that use more transfer we can cover the "lost profit" with more customers that pay our service. If some site has more that 15 of server output they pay $4 1GB. Of cours we do not allow adult sites. The only fuzzy (really fuzzy) things I can think of is ait (generally not recommended on the boards), and I think iserver (.com?), don't have anything on them either way, and maybe OLM's new ensim offering (don't know URL, nor if it is at all what you are looking for since I barely check it out). c0bra 01-13-2001, 02:11 PM HalfPriceHosting do a semi-dedicated plan for $99 month. They say no more than 28 sites will be on a server on that plan. http://www.halfpricehosting.com/semidedicated.asp We have a virtual hosting package with HPH and it has been fine. Fine as long as you don't need any real technical support as their staff seem rather clueless. Note, we also opened a more expensive account last year with support for databases etc. and found their servers so badly setup our scripts refused to run. We moved this business account to virtualscape and all our scripts and databases worked first time. |
