Good morning ladies and gents. I am freshly un-employed, as is the entire tech support department at Addr.com. They are moving shop from America to India. The proof is in the pudding www.india.addr.com

Not that our tech support was bad to begin with, but good luck now folks!

I was an ADDR.com customer before the company was bought up by someone in Colorado (?) and support was pretty bad back then. Sorry to hear you lost your job. Concentrate on the positive aspect of it - move forward :)

Just because they moved means they suck?

Vex...take a look at the other thread to see what he means by the move. There was no warning or notice given to the techs and whenever we questioned this new office they told us we had nothing to worry about. This was going to be a front-line department handling primarily email and the Denver center was going to be call center.

They lied to us, their employees, terminated us with NO warning and NO severence in the middle of the pay period so we have very little to get by on until we can find new jobs.

One of the people hurt the worst in this is a guy who has been married for 2 years, has an 18 month old kid, and they just bought a new house not even 6 months ago...

Oh :( I'm sorry then for posting before I read anything about this. I'm sorry for the loss of your job and the others. Addr should have notified the employees that they were moving and given them the chance to speak their mind - even if they coudn't persuade the company not to move.

hey... i dont see any mention of this on the main addr site??

Amen Vex...really that's all I had hoped for was a little advance notice that this was going to happen so I had time to begin looking for another job. Considering the current job climate I'm probably looking at weeks before I can find a new job. It's going to be especially difficult for most of us because the majority of the employees were either full or part-time students at local colleges. Do you know how hard it is to find a job that will work around a 12-18 credit hour school load??

Yes, I do know how hard it is :( They didn't give you any compensation for leaving so quickly?

Shame about the job.

Any clues as to what cgi script ran the help centre "how to's" or was it a custom script ?

Kunal the site never updates unless there is a really good reason. For instance they didn't update the site information when the child pron hack happened, it wasn't updated for the credit card hack, and it wasn't updated when there were major upgrades being preformed during the middle of the day when servers would be down for 2-4 hours at a time...

strange... wouldnt they notify there customers of this drastic change??

Fish,

I believe that search script is a Matt's script archive search script but I'm not totally sure. The reason that it never worked is because the search tool had the right paths to search but never the right information to access the information so you ALWAYS got the error messages being listed. If you needed to earch for something you actually have to look for it.

No...they felt that this was something that should be handled internally and that the customers had no reason to know. Currently they preform migrations between servers of customer information causing cgi scripts to break because of the path change and never notify customers about this either.

The only time there were notifications where when Tech support complained that they were getting too many calls about server work when it takes 5 minutes to compose and mass email all clients on a server of a change.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. Though having delt with Addr in the past I'm not entirely surprised. Good luck to those who lost jobs... perhaps this will be a blessing in disguise and you will find a job for a better company.

I always wonder how much addr use to spent on advertising. Man, some months before no matter what web site I visit related to web hosting etc., I can see there ad. popping up.

they used to spent huge amount on branding.

best of luck from me in finding new jobs.

.p.s: hey kunal man if you find there number pass it me too.

Addr has a few number

office 720-489-9969
office toll free 888-571-5660
fax 720-489-8484

When you get in start hitting extensions to try to talk to people. I don't know if they have already redirected the phones to India but that 720 number is direct to the DTC office. Manager extensions should be low 100s (ie 110, 111, 112, etc.) There are a few that are diferent if you know anything about an altareach phone system you can get a directory listing of all phone numbers.

I'm sorry about the tech support's situation, and I hope you will be able to get back on your feet soon! Good luck!

Is there any way you can take Addr to court about this? I read an article about an Arthur Andersen employee who is suing them because she wasn't notified two months' in advance about being laid off.

I would be all for a host with *exceptional* tech support. Add good services and you have the perfect mix for a great company.
