Thanks for your interest. We have no arrangements with cPanel as of this time, being that most people buy dedicated servers and use them for direct download sites, etc., hence very little need for a control panel of any kind.

Test IP: 38.113.65.18
Test file: http://www.colo4jax.com/testfile.15

Hi there,

I just went to your (almost) non-existent Site :-0

How about some basic details?
Surely you setup the basic boxes with Webmin at least ( a freebie)?
How many IP's with the box?
Statement of YOUR responsibilities in minding the box?
Is the 1000G composite or 500 each way?

Cheers,

Sure, we'll install webmin with the OS

How many IP's with the box?

5 usable IPs, more available with justification

Statement of YOUR responsibilities in minding the box?

The top of the thread states that the machines are unmanaged. Needless to say, this means that we're responsible for hardware and connectivity, while the customer is responsible for the entire task of systems administration.

Is the 1000G composite or 500 each way?

1000G in each direction

Our facility is located in Jacksonville, FL. The one-time setup fee for another 512 Megs is $25, and $0 per month thereafter.

As a side note, we still have plenty of the free upgrades left as of right now, but there's no telling how fast they'll run out. If you're ready to signup, email rrb {at} colo4jax.com and i'll reply with a signup link. Thanks!

That's because you typed in the email address incorrectly :) it's rrb {at} colo4jax.com, you used rbb@ :P

As for IRC, that's no problem, so long as you understand that most attacks over 50kPPS/100mbit will be nullrouted, anything under will be filtered.

A side note to other lookers-on, we're still provisioning servers right and left, with the average provisioning time still around 4 hours after payment. Get 'em while they're hot :)

That a challenge? You can get a server up in 4 hours?

I'm assuming you were being matter-of-fact, and not sarcastic, so i'll address your questions as such.

Some companies use what I refer to as "already online" inventories of servers with popular pre-existing configurations. An example would be NAC's "15 minute server" division. The rest of us use what I refer to as "just-in-time" inventory, meaning, all servers get provisioned and configured to whatever specification the customer has in mind, relatively soon after an order is received..

While I wouldn't consider it a "challenge" to go from order/payment to having a server online in 4 hours, it was merely my intention to point out that most other companies with just-in-time inventories typically won't bring a server online in such a short timeframe. If you'll notice in most advertisements, the majority of companies using just-in-time inventory will only commit to a 24-72 hour turnaround time on server orders. Some companies don't commit at all. Personally, every server i've ever ordered fell in the 24 to 72 hour timeframe.

I think people find value in our provisioning interval, and in the fact that we aren't uneducated/unempowered middle-men. Customers can deal directly and affordably with colo4jax.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email or PM me. Thanks!

I was serious. I've seen other providers 24 hour setup interval go to 7 days to get a server operational.

Does the 4 hours include custom partitions, Centos 3.x?

cool.. i'll take that as a compliment :)

Yep, I don't see any reason we couldn't deliver that configuration within 4 hours of payment. If you're interested, PM me or email me and tell me which server you want, and which bandwidth package. I'll reply with a Paypal signup link. Thanks!

Personally unless the provider is saturated with orders I dont see why it would take more than a few hours to setup a box. I've been able to install redhat, mandrake, SuSE, freebsd, netbsd and win* within about 2 hours. So if someone tells you it will take 7 days to setup a box for you then you might shop elsewhere. I've talked with tical and he seem's to know what he's talking about. You're in good hands with him.

To bad this is congent :( I am in Jacksonville and looking for colocation. My ping to your test ip is average 60 over 50 tries :( I get better ping from tons of places? I should be in 30's.

I'm not sure why latency is of such concern to you.. but you're right, you should be in the 30s. I ping 32ms from our POP to my Bellsouth DSL, also in Jacksonville. If you're on a Comcast cablemodem, perhaps you should consider switching. Comcast buys transit from the terrorist known as AT&T, who is notorious for congested peering circuits (see numerous threads on this forum).

Anyway, we measure performance in terms of packet loss and throughput, for which our network is top-notch, considering what it is.

What is the address of this datacenter? I may want to take a look at it. Its really only important that I good good pings because of the games I run. If I can get good pings for around the country that will be fine.

I tried to send you the info via private message, but it said that you don't have enough posts yet. I think you only need 5 posts to enable PM, and it says you have 6, so *shrug*. I'll try again in a few hours, or if you like, you can email rrb {at} colo4jax.com and we can converse via email.

AHHH. Why/When would a 100mbit link be required?
I would think that would call for a LOT of traffic allowance, wouldn't it??
