I came to this board asking for some comments and feedback about hostik, but no one knew anything about them. I did some research and decided to sign up with them.
I've been with them about 2 weeks now and so far, everything is going well. I'll let you know if there's a change.
www.hostik.com
$12.95 per month (if paid in full for one year)
Free domain Reg (if paid in full for one year)
600 MB
10 GB Bandwidth per month
Their web site states unlimited data transfer, but they say that means they will forward an unlimited number of pages for you. Downloading files etc., the limit is 10 GB per month, but not clearly disclosed on their site.
The offer toll-free customer service and they seem to be a reliable company.
If anyone else has any experience with hostik.com, positive or negative, please share.
Thanks

Before starting my own company, I was a supervisor at Hostik/Lanset.
They really, really have it together there. They have 5 or 6 support guys, and are quick to answer the phones and are eager to help.
If you ever need help, call and ask for Tony or Skippy. You'll be in good hands. :)
Thanks sbrad!
Do you have any information on the financial stability of Hostik/Lanset?
They're not publicly traded so it's hard to find out info on them. My main concern is if they are doing well so I'll know they'll be around long term. I was looking at their web site and it seems they do more than just web hosting.

Can't give you any financial info, but I can say they had a very, very large dial-up customer base when I left. They had just finished building their data center, and were bringing in lots of servers. :)
They are privately owned by one owner (no partners). And, they had just signed some large bandwidth contracts as I was leaving.
Thanks again sbrad.
One more question. The company's web site states:
"Unlimited Data Transfer"
and many on this forum have gone off on that comment.
They tell me on the telephone that the GB transfer is really 10 GB per month and they make a distinction between "data transfer" (which they call forwarding of URL's) and "Bandwidth" (downloading large files).
I consider downloading large files (which counts against my 10 GB/month limit) as "transfer".
My only thought is why they use this termanology and semantics. 10 GB/mnth is plenty and I'm sure I'll never come close to that. But for some reason, it's not disclosed in their plans and I don't see it in their Terms of Service at http://www.lanset.net/terms_of_service.htm
It seems a compay like this would just disclose it in the plans. Any insight on why they do it this way? They tell me on the phone it's 10 GB, but I don't see it disclosed (unless I can't find it) on hostik's web site.
I noticed on your web site plans - http://www.hostvelocity.com - you clearly indicate the "Disk Space" and "Bandwidth" on all your plans.
I appreciate that and think it's more clear.
Although I'm very happy with Hostik, I do think it's odd that they would state "Unlimited Data Transfer" yet not make the "Bandwidth" limit prominant, or much less, viewable at all.
I think this company would be better off disclosing 10 GB/mnth Bandwidth in its plans.
Has any of this ever came up?
