View Full Version : Possible Reputation System?
Tree NC 11-17-2005, 09:37 PM There are a lot of users registered at these forums. It is hard for a seller or buyer to know if the person they are doing buisness with is reliable. I think a kind of system that eBay utilizes would greatly help anyone who needs to check the history of a client.
Just an idea.

I can see it now:
Buyer:"Your hosting sucks!!!!"
Seller: Who are you?
:eek4:
VolkNet 11-18-2005, 12:28 AM Maybe something like when you make a good post, people can click a "+" near your name signifying you gave a helpful reply. (no negatives, or comments - just a point system of positives) (1 '+' = 1 rep point)
IMO, would be much more affective and would be helpful.
Not only that, it would encourage people to give helpful replys and not those "it depends" replys which I HATE more than anything.

The Dude 11-18-2005, 12:55 AM Well,VBB 3.0+ does have a rep system.....I wonder if they will enable it here :)
anon-e-mouse 11-18-2005, 01:33 AM Hopefully not. I have seen it in use on another hosting forum and for the most part, it is used to "get even" with someone. I have seen those with a generally good forum reputation, "in the red" with the reputation system. It is just plain meaningless.

That is good - and feasible - suggestion.

Yup , sensible people rely on research and not some kiddie system like reputation, come on even kids press that reputation button just for sake of fun. So doesnt give any solid information about the person , does it. And yes most use it to get even cause some host or user just points something bad about there hosting ,and flaming and rating sytem starts

indiaberry 11-20-2005, 09:46 PM No, thanks. I vote against reputation system.

Precisely, that's one of the things that I was worried about vb3 coming in for, but thankfully the reputation system didn't make it in.
In many areas, it would be a good thing, but in a forum this big, and with this many indiiduals interested (primarily) in only advertising, and tearing the opponent company down, it's NOT a good thing to have something like a reputation system in.
Search is your friend ;)
