I have a customer who has registered a .info domain name with Register.com. We were trying to transfer it nd when she tried to approve it, it asked for an "auth code". Through the research I have been able to find, when you register a .info domain name, you should be given an "auth code" by the registrar. Long story short, I have gone around in circles with Register.com to get that code. They say they dont have it!!

They are reluctant to give it to you, or don't know that it exists, but they definately have it.

Here's a link with some items that should help:

Good luck,

If you are not getting anywhere with email to affilias, you need to get your Registrar to send an email to them on your behalf.

The actual domain Registrant should send the first salvo to affilias though. If you are sending on their behalf, you should step out of the way and ask them to send it themselves.

Affilias is under obligation to make sure their Registrars fulfill their contractual obligations. I've had to do this dozens of times to get certain Registrars to supply auth codes...

Good luck,

Hmmm, I have a (one) .info domain name (not with Register.com, with eNom) but this is the first I've heard of the "auth code" - don't recall ever hearing about it, surely not ever given one. Don't need it at the moment though good to tuck back into the depths of the noodle in case I ever need it.

If you telephone Afilias you should have no trouble getting some assistance. I actually did this over an issue where the original registrar was purchased by Verisign and contact was nigh impossible re matters before the purchase, but when I called they were EXTREMELY helpful..

General telephone: +1 215.706.5700

General queries and customer service:

Good luck..

I don't believe they are used for anything other than domain transfers. You might check your control panel at Enom and see if they include the auth code in the registrant information. OpenSRS does this for both .info and .biz domains, now that you can transfer a .biz domain.

Chicken..

Yes Enom provides the Authorisation Key...

If you look at the Contact/Whois info for your domain you will see at the very bottom a section called 'Authorization Info'..

There is your magic number...

Cheers..
