I just had a question for Namecheap so I sent them an email. The next time my mail client checked the mail (it checks every 2 minutes!) I already had an answer from them. That's impressive.

And a little scary. It's almost as if they were expecting you. :D

I am really happy with Namecheap. Compared with Netsol/Verisign, they are a breath of fresh air.

I really enjoy them also and have had no problems to even bother support with so that's even better. I like the fact that if something happened to my host or I had to move servers I could forward my website somewhere. Even if you can't afford hosting it could be a good option for someone with a very small website pointing to a free host or some weird address. The site can get a slow during the day when it gets past 350 users but I really don't mind because I've gotten great results and paid a lot less than other places. I like the fact they do not store your credit card (to the best of my knowledge) and that you have to enter it each time you order or renew a domain, even though this is less convenient.

I do not like the fact that if you don't lock your domain it advertises it is unlocked on the whois information. This would seem to only invite domain hijacking then again you would have to confirm it with admin email I guess so maybe that isn't an issue.

Like:
- Cheap
- Heard good things about support
- Included extras

Do Not Like:
- Account panel is not on secure server
- Sign up is NOT on secure server (only credit card transaction is on secure server)
- Site slow at times
- No email account included (like Stargate)

Jessica :)

I've never experienced slow response time on their site, but I guess there's always a first time.

I do agree about the issue of their whole site not being on a secure server. Hopefully as they grow this will happen. This is one of the reasons that my "mission critical" domain names are still on directNIC.

Stargate does include URL forwarding (and masking). I use it quite often.

You are right, it's a trade-off. Stargate just raised their fees to $13.95 :( But I feel they are more reliable as they have been in business much longer than NameCheap. I did register 2 important domains at Stargate (this way I took advantage of their $8.85/domain for two ore more) and 3 others at NameCheap.

The secure-server issue bugs me a lot but since I've heard so many good things about NameCheap, I am giving them a try. :)

I've been using namecheap for quite a while, support is good. I transfered all my domains there. Only $8.88 too.

Just to let you guys know, namecheap.com is an eNom.com Reseller.

I have registered 2 domains with namecheap.com and have had NO problems at all.

About email :) You must have send it right when Rick's Outlook checks for email. I've answered a few inquiries within a couple minutes myself :stickout
