I have been trying to setup name servers for one of my domains, so i can set friends and family up with free web hosting (instead of using ip addresses for hosting).

First i went into godaddy.com, added the name server. example, ns1.freeplace.net, ns2.freeplace.net

Okay they said, name servers update in 24-48 hours. okay cool.

I restarted the DNS on my server as i was instructed. 24-48 hour wait.

That was 3 days ago, still not working.

DNS name when typed into the browser are going to the IP address of the server.

But when i type in the site, nothing is coming up (should pop up with ensim index page). Instead im being redirected into my search engine, cause it cant find the site/dns etc.

Any suggestions?
Is it my registar's problem, or server related?

Hi Vigor,

I checked your name server and the following result shows that it is not yet registered

Whois Server Version 1.3

Domain names in the .com, .net, and .org domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

No match for nameserver "NS1.FREEPLACE.NET".

>>> Last update of whois database: Sun, 21 Apr 2002 16:52:50 EDT <<<

The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU domains and
Registrars.

You will need to different IP address, one for each name server. We have successfully registered nameservers for the domains registered with godaddy and therefore I trust it may be fault from your side in recording the nameservers.

If you want you can send the dns records you have set for your name servers at sanjay@glopro.com and I will have a look for you.
