I just signed up for Alwayswebhosting, and they've been down more than they've been up since late last week. I was told it was an issue with Rackspace, but now I'm not so sure. Anyone else having Rackspace or AWH probs? I see Site5 of all centers is out, but I don't think AWH is there.

I've been with AWH for about a month, and although this is the first sign of trouble of sign, it's a MAJOR sign of trouble. We're talking half-day outages here. Though I do believe it's not AWH's fault, if their provider is this unreliable, then it's still a problem. Hopefully things will clear up very soon, and in a big way.

I don tknow if this would make a difference but if you check www.internettrafficreport.com , the average is like 40 when usually on a sunday it'd be closer to 80 overall. That wouldnt mean servers would be completely inaccesible, but they may seem it. (?) :D

I could be wrong, but I think that you mean RackShack instead RackSpace.

Just tried Alwayswebhosting.com now and although I can ping it and trace it, I cannot access the Web site. Curious?

Hi Gang,

The problem yesterday was a 'temporary network outage' with RackShack... on and off yesterday.

Right now we are having a problem tracking down a rampant PHP script from a user site on server1...

Not trying to make excuses here, and we sincerely regret being unable to meet 99.9% uptime today. We understand the critical nature of keeping our client sites online and are doing everything we can do handle it promptly and effectively.

Any one installed Apache rlimit hand-in-hand with Ensim?

Yes, I was curious that if they are carving up rackspace.com boxes, how do they do it for the money  and you wouldn't expect outages like this if their provider was rackspace. Rackshack, I can understand how they do it for the price and the outages etc. That makes more sense. :)

AWH is in fact hosted on RackShack, not Rackspace or site 5. seems to be up and running now.

It works really well for the most part, without having to pay the extortion fees of Rackspace. I for one can deal with an outage here or there.

Thanks for the tip Jedito (you da man!), we're in good shape now to prevent this problem from reoccuring in the future.

I sincerely apologize for this trouble to our hosting clients and to those considering our services who were trying to access our sites. The trouble the last day or two has been out of the ordinary I assure you, and we are doing everything possible to keep things purring along nicely. Thanks for your trust, and your understanding. :D

 Yeah, I know what you're saying. I'd get a box from rackspace in a heartbeat if the price was right. [price being right for me - no flames about I get what I pay for please] :)

That's Australian prices for you. Years ago, I used to pay around $45/mth to host 1 domain name.

It's a different internet universe there.

Hi there,

We putting up a remote forum / network status page on another server shortly, but feel free to call, 214-718-4110 in the meantime. The problem yesterday with a runaway CGI script has been solved, still troubleshooting.

just so you know, i think you'll find few people as responsive and willing to help out. like i said, an outage here or there isn't great, but i think it's really rare. it's also rare to find customer service like this. so, pick up the phone and call him and ask him if his refrigerator is running or something. just kidding. he'll give you the scoop.

What's getting old? Someone complaining about their site being down? I don't think you have the right to say that about one of your clients who complains here.

Folks who don't run a hosting business don't understand the complexities involved and downtime to them is evil. Sometimes we forget what it's like to be a client. I know I do. :)

As the owner of a business we know sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. I seriously doubt that anyone that has dealt with Ronnie would think that he isn't doing his best. I find him to be very dedicated and think his level of customer is superd. I will continue to use and give him more business.

Hi Aussie, what I meant was I thought I licked the problem, that's why I was saying it still impacting sites was unusual ("getting old"). :D

I have good understanding of bot sides of the coin (have hosted many places in the last few years) and Dr Foto's right, I have been doing everything possible to resolve the issue, which has been taken care off. Cheers!
