Hey anybody know how to get ahold of the Deru folks? I have emailed and called the support line with no response. This is despite tech support being available 12-5 on Sunday. Also was anyone told by Weinbar that they were being sold? I now have a server down, nobody to call, and no way to reboot! I would appreciate any info on how to find these guys!

Ok I got a response but unfortunately the box is still down. Guess I am going to have to put WHT back on the top of my reading schedule as I sure missed this transition. Anyone else having problems right now with the transition or your box itself?

I'm with weinbar and I have been told by daren that they don't have any of the password information to any of the dedicated boxes as they couldnt get it from Weinstein.

It doesn't seem to me that their servers are as fast as they used to be either. Have you noticed that?

No passwords or anything else and someone apparently logged in as root and started deleting things! This is bad as I am the only one in my company who has the root password and I always use SSH.

What makes you think that? or who told you that?

At this point I really can not say any more than that due to possible legal concerns. I can simply say that was the explanation that was given to me about my box being dead. What I am trying to find out is if anyone else has had their box compromised or had other problems as a result of this move. As for network speed I had noticed some slowdown but not enough to complain about.

Is it just me or does this sound weird ?, when a company is sold, stuff like this is no problem, sounds as if somethign in the deal went sour

You may have been told that but it just isnt true. All password were given to Darin on all servers on March 22, 2002.

MSW,

Then why is he saying that? You think he lost them or something?
And just how big is this new place that took over?

They have a better capacity than we could have handled at our previous provider. I fully believe that Deru can and will provide an excellent serveice for all previous and new WeinBar customers.

Darin knows what he is doing. He has been well versed in the transition and he is your goto guy now.

clocker1996,

What's that?

clocker1996

It means deleting everything off a linux or unix system

clocker1996,

Did you have a server with Weinbar?

yes

Interesting. That is the same explanation I was given for our ills. Current SITREP: Server still nonfunctional, PROFTP crashing every 9 minutes, IPs gone, etc. Time to cut losses.

Anyone having a problem getting a hold of Weinbar today??

Anyone know what Weinbar's Support hours are since Deru took them over??

Thanks Michael... You told me I was set up with 100 GIG of bandwidth in my deal and now the new guys no nothing about it. Thank goodness I kept my email from July of last year!

"I have spoken to Mike and he has increased your server traffic to 100GB at no charge per month instead of 50GB. This should keep your server running nicely without having to worry about any transfer overages.

Also, I have not been inside your server, but make sure persistant connections are turned off.

We will continue to keep you informed as we work to complete your request.
This was in regard to your support request:
>In regard to GZIP

Thanks,
Joe"

BTW Michael according to Darin you were the only tech support guy all along going by different aliases... smooth. No wonder why it took forever to get anything done.

Man am I disappointed in how this all turned out. I was finally able to get my site in the black so it was actually paying for itself. Now it will cost me over $100 a month more and I'm in the red again.

ab7fh,

Why were you told that you could have 100 gig for the same price as with 50 gig?

Long story...

I just wish his users had been informed of this buy out and that things went smoother. I paid my bills on time and in full all of a sudden I got a bill yesterday for nearly 400.00 for overusages of bandwidth going back to February. Had I not saved that e-mail from nearly a year ago I would have been screwed. Darin removed the past over usage charges, but from now on I am responsible for the usage. I now have 7 days to sign a contract with Darin or get disconnected.

There is also a discrepancey in how much BW I am actually using his records show 123gigs in March. Mine shows 72gigs. BIG difference. When I showed him my records he said well you should be happy because yours is showing more usage for every other time period except March than mine is. Well... for some reason that's true, but mine is showing just a few gig more not almost DOUBLE.

Ya know someone in this thread mentioned someone logged into their server and deleted files during this move. Same thing happened to my machine. Someone deleted the nightly backup scripts from my admin directory.

I'm sure Darin is having loads of problems like this thanks to Michael, but I don't want it to be taken out on me. I'm not the enemy, I'm his customer.

Since Michael chose to publicly post to the list, I am forced to respond.

There is obviously at least two sides to every story, and if anyone cares to hear the other side, they are welcome to contact me off list.

MSW,

Why did you edit your posts?

Also who all has servers with weinbar at the present time?

MSW

I felt there was no need to air out any dirty laundry in public.

All servers are with Deru
