I recently saw an advert in the back of the latest .net Magazine know as Web Builder in the US for a company called freevirtualservers.com - they were advertising .info domains for £1 ex VAT (£1.18 inc VAT). Since it was only £1 I thought it would be worth it just to see what they are like. I wish I hadn't!! Everything appeared to go smoothly I got all my confirmation e-mails with the various details about my domain. I wanted to change the nameservers on the domain so I can point it at my hosting account so after wondering round their badly designed website for a while I couldn't actually find a way of doing it online -so I submitted a support ticket. This morning I get an e-mail from the support department about what they can do to retain my business? I'm only changing the nameservers - i'm not going anywhere! They wanted £4.99+VAT to change the nameservers! Thankfully it was only £1 so nothing lost but to my absolute amazment they still hadn't registered the domain for me despite me paying them!
I've now registered it with another host. It's worth avoiding freevirtualservers.com as they don't appear to be the fastest guys when it comes to registration - however they do aiim to register the domain as soon as possible (so their site says)
