Hi,

I have some domains registered with GoDaddy and well the godaddy service doesn't cut it for me so I am looking to change registrars. The problem is that I have no idea what registrar might make me happy.

The problems I have with GoDaddy are as follows:

- domain forwarding... when you change your domain name from forwarding from one address to a different address, for whatever stupid reason, your domain will point to a godaddy advertisement for the next 24 hours. Hey, the GoDaddy advertisement is very pretty, but when I purchased my domain name, you know, I wasn't saying to myself "oh happy day, I can't wait to use my domain name to advertise Godaddy's services..."

- domain forwarding... on some of my domain names the forwarding to the domain name works only if you omit the www prefix. On all of my domain names, the forwarding works only half the time, and fails to redirect the other half. I don't want my visitors to have to click refresh just to get to my web site.

- domain forwarding... it only works for redirecting users to root of your web site... if a user types in your url and post-pends it with /filename.html or if you create a link that does this, then you're screwed because the godaddy forwarding is set up to deliberately not work for this... it redirects to a mangled URL. I understand not all registrars will offer this capability (and I suspect most won't) but it would be nice to know if any do.

- the interface... the Godaddy interface is nice, but it is really very slow and cumbersome, it requires a lot of CPU power to run, and it doesn't play nice with my favorite web browser....

- and other reasons...

The point is, there are so many features a registrar can have, and the performance of each feature can vary so much, so does anyone know, is there anywhere a web site where users submit their own personal experience and opinion and where all that data is stored in a database whereby users can run a query on that database to find which registrar best conforms to the user's particular criteria?

You know.. because on a forum like this, it is very nice to ask 100 different people what is their favorite registrar, and why, but I will get 100 different answers...

What I am looking for is the average answer of at least a few thousand users pertaining to the exact features that are important to me....

Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have!

The link below can also give you another place to check:

In my case, I've used Domainsite.com.

Use your best judgement. And good luck!
