View Full Version : Who wants a server? Limited Quantity!
StarGate 04-21-2002, 12:58 PM Dear WHT folks,
last week I bought eXscape Communications - the former provider of my upcoming Hosting/Dedicated Service - and I am happy to announce some special offers which are directed to YOU people exclusively, 8 days before we officially start selling dedicated servers and more.
The datacenter is NAC (www.nac.net) and the connectivity is therefore multi-homed. I have taken over all remaining client base and 7 servers are available at the moment. As to the quality of service and uptime etc, my answer is that I have my own production servers there too. I guess that needs no further explanation therefor ;) Let me give you some details.
4 AMD Duron 1GHz with 512MB RAM and 40GB HDD
3 Intel PIII 1GHz with 512MB RAM and 40GB HDD
450GB/month - overages are 29$/100GB
Each box can burst to 10 Mbit/s
Pricing Duron:
99$ one time setup fee
99$ per month
OR
119$ per month and NO SETUP FEE
Pricing PIII:
99$ one time setup fee
129$ per month
OR
149$ per month and NO SETUP FEE
They come with Red Hat 7.2 and WebMin 0.95
Optional:
Additional 512MB (1GB max) + 10$/month
APC port for remote reboots via web browser
60$ one time setup fee, no monthly charge
You can pay with all major credit cards and/or PayPal.
Signup Page:
https://www.stargate.hm/special.htm
Click on "WHT0204"
You can ping/traceroute to range 64.247.34.0 or 64.247.35.0
These prices are the LOWEST there will ever be from me.
Waiting for your orders ;)
Warning: When you complete your order you get a 404 error because the "Thank you" page is wrong. Don't worry it is ok. Your orders work!
*********************************************
Ok now to your replies:
-> !! IPs are OF COURSE FREE! Arin restrictions apply !!
Everyone who is asking about control panels: We cannot sell you one but we can install any control panel including CPanel, Plesk PSA, Ensim WebAppliance, H-Sphere and HostGUI (from June 2002) for FREE (providing you purchase a license from the vendor of the software)
@Miha: To your questions:
1) Yes, but not at this price... expect 10-15% more
2) Yes as long as it is LEGAL and we are not being jeopardized in any way
3) Yes we do. Please email me for wire instructions
@voxtreme-matt: Yes, we do. eXscape had a big thing going there and we are picking up where they let off. About your Edit see above "Cogent-Topic"
@Sn2: Thank you very much :) I am sorry to disappoint but we do not offer any software with the servers. We will add PSA and HostGUI soon but do not rely on it please :)
@DanielP: Thanks for the heads up. Check above "Cogent-Topic" ;)
@2Mhost: Please check above about IPs, sorry forgot that :) I hate to disappoint but, as said before, the servers come with OS and WebMin only. We are not ready yet to offer control panels and because we take our business very serious we cannot rush things "just" to sell ;)
Nice deal guys!
Few questions:
- Will you get more of these servers? (I'm interested in AMD)
- Are you friendly with legal adult content?
- Do you accept wire payments?
mdrussell 04-21-2002, 01:15 PM Let me get this right, you're offering 100Gb of NAC transfer at $29 ?
EDIT: Didn't realise it was a Cogent line, I just tracerted.
congratulations!
i wish you well in business as you've got something to compete with rackshack:)
EDIT: how much can you get ensim or plesk for?
DanielP 04-21-2002, 01:18 PM That offer would be nice except its on a cogent line in nac.... so i think you should explain if its multi homed or not as well as if it has any redundancy whatso ever. Or more precicley if it *is* multihomed how is it routed, is it weighted down so only cogent passes unless cogent dies etc....
*goes off to preform traceroutes from a few looking glass portals at different backbones*
Just an FYI
So far
Leve3, Sprint, AboveNet, Qwest, Broadwing, Genuity UK, Exodus, Global Crossings, ATT Canada East, ATT Canada West end up taking cogent, I'm not done yet but so far I see nothing multi homed and everything weighted down to cogent.
<More Just Added>
i think i could still live even if its only cogent:rolleyes:
2Mhost 04-21-2002, 02:31 PM Hi, will take one or more immediatly if you can give me the price for CPanel/WHM *installed* and ready on server ...
i talk about PIIIs
how many IPs? ..... what if i need more ?
answer now ..... purchase now :) :)
StarGate 04-21-2002, 02:51 PM You can ping/traceroute to range 64.247.34.0 or 64.247.35.0
Those are the ranges where the systems will reside on.
Hope that helps ;)
P.S. Should look like THIS now:

... as I said, I bought eXscape and my production servers are there. The IP from my site (starhost.hm) you tracerouted is active as it has a server running. I had 100% utime so far (2.5 months) as it is mainly cogent but not only.
The servers for sale run on a range that is NON-COGENT though as people just don't seem to like cogent, not even as part of a multi-home connection, well... :bawling:
Thanks for the input. The traceroutes look good.
And again to ALL: WE DO NOT SELL ANY SOFTWARE/CP WITH THE SERVERS! ;)
mhale 04-21-2002, 06:49 PM Kewl, This is SOO kewl. I cant wait till I get my server tomorrow! VERY fast and courteous people! BTW, How many IPs does this include, and how much are extras? I guess I should have asked that before I placed my order, eh? hehe :) Thanks though!

Hey :)
Saw your order in the order system. You will have your PIII tomorrow. I will give you 8 IPs but please justify (will send you a ducument to fill) and USE them, ok? :)
Welcome to StarHost! :)
2 Servers sold already, one Duron and one PIII. Thanks WHT :)
And BTW: Everyone who is asking about contro panels: We cannot sell you one but we can install any control panel including CPanel, Plesk PSA, Ensim WebAppliance, H-Sphere and HostGUI (from June 2002) for FREE (providing you purchase a license from the vendor of the software) :)
2Mhost 04-21-2002, 08:25 PM I ordered the PIII ....
hope you can help me install CPanel like you promissed!
StarGate 04-21-2002, 08:50 PM ... When you complete your order you get a 404 error because the "Thank you" page is wrong. Don't worry it is ok. Your orders work!
Status: 3 Durons and 1 PIII left ;)
dektong 04-21-2002, 09:14 PM I got confused, is this on cogent line or not? My traceroute the give went through Alter.net/UUnet, not cogent.
However, having said this ... Traceroute may mean nothing since you can setup the incoming traffic to route to certain providers yet the outgoing traffic is routed to different provider. I think DCJN does this; the incoming is routed through Level3, but the outgoing is not.
cheers,
mhale 04-21-2002, 11:06 PM _._
StarGate 04-22-2002, 02:48 AM 2 Durons left, PIII sold out.
And btw: It is NOT cogent. Cogent IS one provider of the multi-homed connection but since people here don't like cogent I took it off the list. That "list" is coming soon btw :)
BiGWill 04-22-2002, 05:52 PM wow!
that offer sounds almost too good to be true!
i like it very much ...
if i would only have some bucks left :bawling:
greets from Germany
StarGate 04-22-2002, 10:45 PM ... one last Duron available. If you still want a server... NOW is the time :)
Servers are beeing setup by the hour... my staff is working double shifts to meet all demands :)
GAMPort 04-23-2002, 12:30 PM Ordered a Duron and it's up and running. Very friendly service so far.
go2search 04-23-2002, 12:51 PM These folks are the most professional, supportive individuals that I have ever done business with.
I highly recommend their service as they will be there when you need them.
Not to mention the fact that they offer a terrific deal on a dedicated server.
I got one the Pentium III's by the way.
