View Full Version : Sign-up Ratio and Ad
tomeko 01-10-2001, 04:39 PM What's up
How many sign ups do you guys get per 100 visitors?
I get about 1 new signup per 80 visits. Is it good result?
Today I bought spotlight ad on WebHostDir.com
I'll be able to tell you my CT ratio in 20 days (my campaign ends on the 1st of February)
Where do you guys advertise?
CRego3D 01-10-2001, 07:24 PM We actually get a damm good ration, about 1 in 10-15 (unique) visitors sign up (for the past 2 months .. previously this number was allot lower in signups), I would still consider 1 in 80 a good ratio
sodapopinski 01-11-2001, 12:52 AM CRego3D,
Wow...1:10 ratio is a very good sign up ratio.
Was wondering where do you to advertise yours?
Tomeko,
Keep posted, we would like to hear the result from your campaign at WebHostDir.
Thx.
Soda
fweikeong 01-13-2001, 04:11 AM yeah.. what a sign up ratio, is it due to the good website design or other reasons ?
ads on webhostdir, hmm... I'm interested too.
I'm testing out some other method too, will update if any of them works. keep posted ! :)

We ran the 110x110 ad this month for 10,000 views on Web Hosting Directory. We got 3 click-thrus. I'm going to rework the ad, and try again next month, but so far I haven't been impressed :( (in all fairness, we don't offer a $7-$8 account, so it does make it harder to compete -- but we also didn't list any pricing in our ad).
I'm actually finding most of our hits coming from this site...too bad its probably other webmasters checking us out :).
tomeko 01-13-2001, 12:35 PM As I said I'll tell you my WebHostDir results on 1st of February.
I can tell You that site design is very important. Our signup ratio increased when we redesigned our web site.

I got very good price for dedicated server from You however I'm afraid of your company because You don't even have Secure Server... You need secure server ! You're losing customers...

CRego3D 01-13-2001, 12:45 PM I would like to say again, those rations are per person, not per visit (some people visit the site up to 20 times before sign up)
One of the good click tru ads we made also (and still do) is with iprive.com (got 300K there), and allof of others come from hosting directories and LOTS of them also come from certain graphics sites that my other company (3dwizards.com) sponsors, that's why at the moment about 50% of our customers are Graphics Artists, Video Personell and/or Webmasters, that is the crowd we have been attracting
but yes, indeed the signup ratio is very high (good thing), we'll see for how long it maintains like that

Thomas, actually I'm embarrassed to say I did not realize that was not done. Our designer was supposed to do that as part of their design, and never did, and I did not know that. I have corrected it though :). Thanks for pointing it out.

I find web hosting directories doesn't really bring me traffic, majority of my traffic come from forums.
Well, IMO, forums can be a really traffic building tool, if you are those type of people that willing to help out others, your post will bring you good word-of-mouth point from those who got their problem solved after reading your post. Occasionally, there may be other webhosters checking out you too, due to your comments on an arguable issue/thread.
I find the threads that bring me most traffic in forums that I participated are of those that I offer info to help someone solving their problems.
Search engines traffic are yet to see, I have listed on the dmoz.org recently and yet to see the result from it.
Pay-per-click search engines are the last thing I wold try.
tomeko 02-06-2001, 11:44 AM As I promised here are my results with WebHostDir ad:
Time period: 2 weeks (15-31 of January)
Total Click-Throughs 183
Sign-ups: 6
I think its not too bad :))

Thomas

Well, I assume you mean how many sign ups on the forum right?
hehe, well, my site gets a 2:1 signup ratio =]
no kidding! :)
Chicken 02-06-2001, 04:40 PM The discussion is about how many web hosting clients signing up Giz... :)
[Edited by Chicken on 02-06-2001 at 04:09 PM]
egizmokid.com 02-06-2001, 04:50 PM chicken, the thing is.. one would expect that with the tremendously popularity of my site that "sign up" ratio would improve..
But, you might have noticed that my site caters to a VERY limited (but extrmeley active) local audience. Where I live, news spreads very fast.. because its a small region, so most of the people know about the site.. and all potential members have already signed up.. so I expect the "sign up" ratio to decline.. unless ofcourse I expand my community to cover a larger regional area.. maybe the whole middle east!
and then.. man.. I will be featured as a FAMOUS and GREAT Teen entrpreneus in all major media publications.. everyone will die to interview me.. I will get offers from major organisations willing to sponsor me.. and maybe I will just sell everything for 5 million US dollars..
mwhahahahaha
*ouch..ahh..*
OK! WHO THREW THAT SHOE!! HMOPF!!
Goto.com works for me, even though I'm not in the top ten list.
I advertised on webhostdir.com in December, I had a banner on the spotlight page, it didn't help me at all, it was a waste of money.
Most of my clients that I get is word of mouth.
I will start advertising in computer newspapers.
