I have photoshop 7/CS and I am not very familiar or good with it and was planing on taking a Continuing Education class in it on Saturdays... The campus nearest me only offers Photoshop classes using CS2... are they similar enough that if I took the CS2 class that I can use most of the techniques learned on the older version>?

They're pretty similar. I actually prefer 7 simply because cs2 cripples my system.

I second the above opinion, and CS didn't seem to work well on my operating system also. 7 is better, but for the differences I can say that these versions are smiliar in most aspects of the program.

Yeah, they are quite similar. As usual, some new features added to newer version, but still the functionality is quite similar.

Functionality in both are good on this side, and live trace is a must have. :)

I thought live trace was an Illustrator thing, is there a live trace feature in photoshop?

I suggest u to stick with Photoshop CS... i tried CS2 but the new feautres aren't that neccessairy or amazing...
