I am unfortunetly a custom of www.gearhost.com at the moment. I had sevral issues with them, including domain

registration, SQL databses, and log in names.

Here is a list of all of the tickets I have submitted:

date opened: 03-18-2002 @ 07:14:23 PM
subject: mySQL setup and domain addition
status: resolved

responses: customer: 03-18-2002 @ 07:14:23 PM
I spoke to Josh by phone tonight and would like to add a small forum (we spoke about CPU use) to the domain

www.drumcorpsforum.com using the software found at www.phpBB.com and was told that in control panel I can not

setup my own databases yet, that I need to have you do that. So here I am. I put a small text file where

(63.123.146.224\www\forum\__file that phpBB wants as start page__)I want the forum to be located asking you to

please make www.drumcorpsforum.com point to there. I also added a domain of www.acronymboy.com thinking that

it would be purchsed, but now I realize that I need to ask you to purchase it for me and than have it point to

63.123.146.224\www\acronym\index.htm

If you coudl take care of these for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Brian,

The domain acronymboy.com has been registered and it will take ~24hr for the DNS records to update. I pointed

acronymboy.com to the specified directory.

The following DBs have been created.
acronym

Log into Icontrol and go to Data Tools --> MySql. On that page is a link to the MySql admin page. Use your

standard user and password information.

If you need further assistance please reopen this ticket. To reopen click the resolved link in your personal

customer: 03-21-2002 @ 06:00:25 PM
while youre at it can you also creat a database called forum and another called blog

thanks!

(when will i be able to create my own?)

technician: 03-22-2002 @ 01:25:05 AM
I setup both database's as acronym_forum and acronym_blog. You can use the same account login to get into the

databases. Shortly you will be able to create the databases on the fly, I apologize that it's not full

complete just yet. This feature should be in the new April 1st release of iControl v2.0.

subject: New domain and mySQL database
status: resolved

responses: customer: 03-28-2002 @ 08:23:39 PM
These should be my last domain additions and database additions for a while. thank you for all your help.

www.directrotonews.com is the domain and I would like the database to be called sports so I guess you guys

will call it acronym_sports like the others.

technician: 03-29-2002 @ 05:45:27 AM
Your acronym_sports MySQL database has been created using your account username/password login information.

No problem on the request Brian, that's what we are here for ;-).

Just to confirm as well you can add the additional domains to your account under iControl -> DNS. Let me know

if you have any problems.

customer: 04-03-2002 @ 09:26:03 AM
www.directrotonews.com still hasnt been registered yet.

Also is it possible to create a second user name and password for access to the mySQL database?

If so could you make it:
JEsatto
******

technician: 04-04-2002 @ 06:45:36 AM
Brian - I aplogize that the domain was not registered I thought you were trying to add a new domain. I have

registered the domain and it should be showing up with 24 hours but will probably show up by tomorrow morning.

Robert

technician: 04-04-2002 @ 06:47:29 AM
I added JEsatto to access the acronym_sports database as well.

Robert

At this point I would like to point out I wanted a database called blog, not acronym_blog, but they decided

they knew what was best for me. And of course, I knew to add a domain under the iControl, but it wasnt

registered and I figured I may as well let them do it for me. Turns out that is a mistake.

date opened: 04-08-2002 @ 06:07:38 PM
subject: Where are my databases????
status: resolved

responses: customer: 04-08-2002 @ 06:07:38 PM
Thank you for doing the upgrade you said would take place last week.

Thank you for wiping out my database.

www.drumcorpsforum.com can not connect to the database that was there less than 8 hours ago. Where did it go?

Why is it now that I can access my own databases in iControl, but neither of the two I had were listed? Or the

other two I had which were empty? Where did my databases go?

https://oberon.gearhost.com/datatools/phpMyAdmin/index.php doesnt let me log in. What gives?

Why is it when I do a whois on my domains, your information shows up? These are my domains, not yours, you are

simply hosting things for me. I verfied this the night before I signed up.

I had three people who were going to pay me $200 each for a complete website and I was going to resell your

hosting, but unless this is resolved tonight, I will not be doing this and I will be changing to another

provider, who has their busniess fully setup before they open their doors.

I read a bit of bad mouthing of gearhost.com on webhostingtalk.com but saw Ryan was always trying to give the

best and I realized that **** does happen, but it has happened too much here and I will go some place else if

this continues.

I called and was not able to wait on hold to speak to a live person about these things, I expect a call

tonight at 516-***-****.

Oh and by the way, your security cert, is giving me a security error, it says the name on the cert doesnt math

the name of your site. Might want to fix that too while youre at it.

technician: 04-09-2002 @ 12:57:45 PM
This has been finished. Thanks Brian for the talk and for staying with GearHost.

I called and gave someone a hard time about this and cancelled my account, than received a call back from Ryan

1 minute later apologzing and he offered two months of free service and promised it woudl not happen again,

promised me live stats, which I have to pay for, something that wasnt made known until than, and it is almost

May and still iControl isnt finished. That is false advertising, you said April 1st it will be installed,

first it was billing, and than stats, and it sitill isnt finsihed. Ryan explained to me it was a technicain

who acciedantlly deleted the user accounts that I had that allowed me to use databases, which is why I coudl

not access them. So I decided nothing is perfect, they have had only 30 minutes of downtime since I was with

them, I will give them one more chance.

They blew it so I looked for my own dedicated server, with which I am doing fine. I was looking to trasfer my

data this weekend and submit the DNS changes to the registrar, enom.com in this case, and hopefully I would be

done so I sent in this one last ticket to them:

date opened: 04-17-2002 @ 09:33:17 PM
subject: cancel account
status: open

responses: customer: 04-17-2002 @ 09:33:17 PM
I wish for my account to be terminated in 2 weeks time from todays date. The only reason I am waiting two

weeks is to make sure my trasfer is complete, I will no longer be hosting with gearhost.

Change the contact information at the registrar, it still hasnt been changed like I was promised, and unlock

the domains so I can trasfer them myself to my new host. They are my domains, not yours, template registration

or not, its wrong.

Ryan, if you wish to call me you have my number, but I do not think you have any questions for me as I spoke

to you last time about this.

technician: 04-17-2002 @ 10:25:46 PM
Brian, I aplogize that you do not wish to host with GearHost any longer, is there anything we might be able

to do to keep you as a customer, we can change your domain information as requested, sometimes domains are

registered using our template which we can quickly switch.

customer: 04-18-2002 @ 03:18:03 AM
No, thank you, I just picked up 3 more clients and need multiple SSLs and more CPU use and the ability to

stream videos. I chose to get a dedicated server. Your dedicated servers are too pricy for me so I had to look

else where. I have had both ups and downs with you as a company, and unfortunetly there have been one too many

downs for me to even consider staying with you.

Thank you,

Brian

customer: 04-19-2002 @ 05:38:52 AM
I am still waiting for the name and password to log into enom.com so I can change my dns records.

Apparently you can ask me to stay promptly, but you can not add databases nor can you change information at

registrars.

This includes ALL of my names, acronymboy.com drumcorpsforum.com directrotonews.com

customer: 04-19-2002 @ 06:42:43 PM
I am stil waiting for a reply, it has been one complete busniess day and you have not answered me.

I plan on filing complaints with the BBB, WHT, Ars, HOCP, and several other groups.

If dragging your name through the mud is what is required to get a response from you I will do it.

I than sent Ryan a PM after calling and leaving a message and getting no response.

I have filled out a ticket for a cancelation and I expected results, instead you did absolutly nothing adn

just asked me to reconsider. NO, I will NOT.

Now unlock my dns records.

I do not know what it takes to get the message across, when I ask for somethign, I want it than, not in 3

days. Youre turn around times are horrible.

I will be making all my communcaitons with you and gearhost public on this forum as well as several others. I

will also be filing with the BBB for flase advertising among other things.

I expect a email to brian@acronymboy.com within 6 hours.

You can access your domains by going to http://domains.gearhost.com/. Login using the domain name

then your accounts password (same as with GearHost). Please keep me informed as your messages are not making

sense (your ticket v.s. your post).

I will be sending hm a response as soon as I post this, file a complaint with ICANN and also with enom.com,

the registrar, it will simply say unlock the domains so I can trasfer them to my server with its own name

server. I was told before that the contact info would be switched to my name, like I was promised by Josh

before I even signed up. I would not be willing to sign up if I knew they would keep the domains.

If you wish to look at my website anyone, you will see that they are in fact all down

www.acronymboy.com
www.drumcorpsforum.com
www.directrotonews.com

I am supposed to have 2 weeks of service still while I migrate. I can no longer log into the ticket manager.

I had a feeling Ryan would try to do something like this so I couldnt complain and have no evidence, so I

copied them out before I sent him the PM as I knew he wasnt going to feel motivated to keep me as a client

happy if I posted all of this.

(Nice try Ryan, but I have them all right here and the emails I exchanged with you too. Dont think for one

second you are gonna screw me over.)

Not only are my sites down, but so is my email, meaning I have to resort to my yahoo account, which doesnt

offer pop3 access anymore. Any other email being sent to me is gone.

Ryan I have made this clear to you before, unlock my domains, and change all the information so that I am, not

gearhost, the person recorded at the registrar. And my contact information is written there. And I can

change it when ever I want becuase it IS mine.

I think you meant to email this directly to Ryan. Seems directed at him, and I don't see much that can be discussed.
